What`s up SuN`sters, hope everyone is having a spectacular 2007 thus far (I think I`m channeling our Chief Community Officer, Joel Welsh - get out of my head Joel).

We have a slew of projects on the horizon for StartupNation.com, but our ideas are bubkus without your voice - so help us help you by guiding the future direction of the site.

How can you do this you ask? Simple - take part in the first of a few surveys we`re running in the near future - the answers you provide here will literally help drive our work in `07 (oh yeah, if you complete the survey and drop in your email address, you`ll have a shot at winning a Canon PowerShot A540 digital camera - you can pretend it`s the holiday gift that got lost in the mail, or keep it all to yourself).

I`d also like to use this forum topic as a place for rants and raves about the survey, suggestions for questions that weren`t covered in the survey, and any and all other questions about this effort - so have at it. Thanks for your help - here`s that link again:

Guys and gals - sorry about missing the Associate degree (no slight intended!), it`s always a challenge structuring these things, I will definitely take note and adjust in any future surveys.

I`m new to the forum, and what a first impression: Assoc. Degree = some college. Either way I love the website and PODCAST keep up the good work!

Oh yeah, as for that camera you guys are gonna have to borrow it from me cause I am going to be the winner...LOL

come on, don`t tell me you only have 4 new ideas for the year 2007, i expected to choose at least from 20

I`d add that if someone doesn`t enter his email at the end, the survey is basically anonymous. In case some people don`t want to be revealed - don`t look at my photo , I don`t have a better one yet! That`s why I filled out the email field - to win a camera and to take a nice shot.

Also one more thing. I`ve listened to the podcast about surveys just before I took it and you said in there that the incentive should be somehow valuable to the business (like the book of Sloans was, btw. which survey was that, i want that book) to prevent "fast" answers. And when I came to this survey right after listening and I saw the incentive to be a camera . How does that relate to the startupnation?

Anyway I`m using surveymonkey for my business and it`s great!

Hey Fellas, Here goes another idea that might help the community.
Currently in the market place we only see text ads. Are you guys thinking about letting Community members upload their banners? Example: I want to run a promotion on the market place, I want to be able to upload a banner, enter information such as how many days am I running the promotion for, and then the banner automatically deactivates. or perhaps you can choose how many promotions you want to run and the number of people that sign up.
Also, Please get rid of all those Banners that are posted all over the web site.
I thought we where a close community where you can only be a member if you sign up? Instead of having company`s like buy domain.com and microsoft, why not let the community post their adds...
Im stating this because "Buydomains.com is a competitor of mine... and that is not cool...
You guys are basically crushing a small business to put 2.00 bucks in your pocket through their affiliate program.. Not that I am hurting over two bucks but its cold.
Just my thoughts nothing else..

Hey mond - thanks for taking the survey - yeah, we`ve got a few more ideas, but I`m always wary of `survey fatigue`, so we tried to keep the questions manageable.

As far as the camera, I don`t think the `must have value for business` is a hard and fast; there are a lot of applications for a digital camera in many businesses, but my gut reaction is that there`s not a huge problem using something that might be a little more on the fun side.

Appreciate the feedback!
