Are you from the OuterBanks area? I was thinking of vacationing there next year and I`ve never been there before, so I wondered what it was like.

Just to let you all know, the phenomonon Rich was talking about is shutter lag.  It is a real problem with small point-and-shoot cameras.  About the only thing you can do is move up to a prosumer or what some call a pro-am level camera.  Some are digital versions of the SLR, called DSLR`s.  The Canon Rebel XT line is fairly inexpensive, and takes a great photo with Canon`s Digix II imaging system.  I personally am still stuck on the 10D, with an older imager.  Be aware, though these camera systems have a virtual point-and-shoot setting, they are full-fledged SLR camera bodies.  They are not the shirt-pocket-style, and you have to look through the viewfinder to set up the shot.  But if you are wanting to take better pictures, especially action photos, these will be the only way.
