Let`s see, what do I collect... (besides dog hairballs, of course.)

Barbie dolls: I think I have somewhere between 50-60 Barbies, mostly those from the 80`s and 90`s, but some older and some newer. And from what I`ve heard, I`m a pretty tame collector. Most collectors boast 100+ Barbies in their stashes.

Bicycles: I didn`t really intend to collect bicycles, but I got suckered into cycling by my husband (now I really love it!) so we have a small collection of bikes. Right now we have 5 road bikes, 2 mountain bikes, a recumbent bike, and a cruiser bike. I expect more to come. Ha!

I also have a small collection of old money and unique coins, and a truckload of computers and computer parts (I still have a functioning 5" floppy drive *L*).

Don`t get me started on Ebay. Luckily, I have been able to keep myself away pretty well. But when I go shopping there, it can turn ugly fast ;-)

Things I used to collect but decided to de-clutter my life:

Watches
Unicorn figurines
Movie posters
My Little Pony
Stickers
Beanie Babies (I still have a handful of these)

...hmm, I think that`s all :-)

R@,
I have a VK plate with dead presidents on it! Its one of my favorites. Let me find a photo so you can see...  Here you go. The photo doesn`t do it justice.

I have been collecting a variety of things over the years:

• Matchbox cars - I still have all of my Matchbox cars from when I was a kid.  Many are still in their original boxes.

• Cowboy memorabilia -  I`ve always been a big fan of cowboys and rodeos.  I have lots of western collectibles and memorabilia.  Old rodeo photos, toys, clocks, books, art, dishes, glassware, lamps, and much more.

• Old metal advertising signs - Every once in a while I see another old advertising sign that I must add to my collection.  Most are for soda companies.

• Advertising character collectibles - I have over 200 vinyl advertising characters from an entire collection of Bob`s Big Boys to Tillie the Tillamook Cow.

• Salt & pepper shakers - Most of my 100 salt and pepper shaker sets are also advertising characters.  Friends are always finding usual ones for me.

• Cookie jars - Again, primarily advertising related.  Only about 15 in my collection.

• Novelty tea pots - It would be very easy for  me to get carried away collecting unusual teapots.  I only have a few due to available space.

• Rocking horse Christmas ornaments - I`ve got over 600 rocking horse Christmas ornaments that I`ve been collecting from around the world for over 20 years now.  When I lived in a loft space with 16 ft. ceilings I would put them all on one tree.  Now I need to pick and choose which ones go on my tree in a room with standard height ceilings.

• Fish items - our bathroom has a fish theme and is filled with fish art, old collectible wall decor from the 50`s and 60`s, glass fish and fish items friends have given us from their travels.

• Art - Most of the art I have collected is the work of friends, people I know or artists I`ve met when traveling.  A few paintings, lots of prints, some photos, many ceramic pieces, a few sculptural pieces, and more.

• Books - I just can`t seem to get rid of a book.  I have several thousand in my home.  We may need to building a library room when we remodel our house.  Every once in a while I come across an antique book that "calls my name." I have nearly 300 graphic design books in my collectiion.

Most people agree that a visit to our home results in "sensory overload."

No one has mentioned collecting what I collect. Am I strange? Or am I collecting items ahead of the curve? I think Im a little strange...

I collect dinosaur fossils. I used to have my collection online, but have since redesigned my personal site and it isn`t available yet. I`ll have to get it going.

Thanks for starting this thread Chris. It is a great idea.

Actually it was Rich`s idea. I have to give credit where due!

We were discussing it on another thread and he suggested we make it a new thread so everyone would see it.

I used to collect stamps, but got out of it. I used to collect authentic swords, but that got a little expensive, so that hobby is on hold. I haven`t gotten any new ones in a while, but I still have a pretty good collection of mint condition comic books. I have a few of them signed even.
