A month or two ago, I began "meeting" with a few other entrepreneurs who are also just starting out via online chat and a weekly conference call.  Our purpose is to serve as a sounding board and to hold each other accountable to progressing on our business ideas.

I`ve found it immensely helpful.  We think, though, that having a few more people in the group would be even better.

There comes a point of diminishing returns. The effort expended to build an online group exceeds the effort involved in actually starting a real business.

CraigL, this was a BIG concern of mine, since time is very precious to me.   Really, though, the same could be said of starting up your own business.  You could even say that about participation in SuN. ;)  I guess it depends on how you do it.

I pretty much reduced the "building" part to next to nothing and spend nearly all time on supporting and doing.  So far the investment has been minimal and the returns big since I now have others to hold me accountable to making serious progress.

:-) Good! Just so you keep in mind that the object here is to start and run a business. Too many people DO get caught up in the talking, and forget the doing part of it. Sounds like you`ve got your priorities straight.
