I go to California University of Pa and its a small town with tons of college kids and there is only 2bars and the nearest club is at least 30miles away or 45min-1hr away so me and about 3other friends was thinking on starting a night club at school we would be open about 3days a week and open the renting it out for private party`s and what not.... we don’t have money to start so we was thinking of taking out a small business loan and property is cheap cause it is a small town and we feel with everyone on campus knowing us that we could easy get 150ppl a night...

We also plan on having one of the Bar`s join us so we can have a liquor license and what not

So any help you can give will be greatly appreciated

Do you, or any of the partners have any prior experience working in a bar or nightclub?

I`d suggest you right-away get work in the nightclub business, and try to set up a career path toward Food & Beverage Management. You`ll do okay with business management coursework, but you`d do a lot better if you can also take some courses regarding the hospitality industry.

Running a nightclub---even a corner bar---is a nightmare of overlapping legal issues, politics, labor/management concerns, and public relations. And that doesn`t even scratch the surface of such things as "chic, in, classy, elegance, style, theme," and the many other abstract concepts of Entertainment.

Under all that, keep in mind that although it should never be the overriding decision-maker for a business, it`s certainly wise to ask yourself the question, "If there`s such a big market for my idea here and nobody`s doing it....how come?"

Yes, I agree.. this is a hard business to get into, especially being a first out of school.. and the red tape... wow.. there are lot`s in this type of business. With that being said.. you can do this, just make sure you do your due diligence.
