Very interesting discussion.

The ultimate question to ask when considering a squeeze page, or any tactic for that matter, is - will it be profitable?

A good marketer should test her message, test her tactics, test her assumptions, etc. If after testing, a squeeze page proves to be profitable and proves to provides the type of leads you want, then it makes a lot of sense to use it.

As for happening upon squeeze pages sight unseen, I would think most people would click away. Ideally a prospect chooses to go to a squeeze page after reading a substantial amount of free and useful information.

Thank you. (If you weren`t referring to me then I just made an ass of myself.)

I was about to comment on your strategy section suggestion. It`s a good idea. And it would help people flesh out ideas.

nhgnikole you said:
"I don`t see signing up for the email list before I see the product as "relationship building". It seems more like "wall building" to me."

It`s an absolute wall when people refuse even the possibility of "relationship building" by not leaving the most basic form of contact information.

All in all, the best point made so far is, if it`s profitable and positive, do it.  If not, toss it.

So far a better online marketing solution hasn`t been created and since this one works, may as well run with it until a better solution appears.  I love the people who are on my email list.  I love when they reply to a message.  I like being reminded there are real people there who realize I`m a real person too - not machinery.

Have a wonderful weekend!

This is a great decision!

Juanita, thank you for joining the Won`t Be
Denied community.

Overall, I`ve benefited from joining others as
a member through opting into there website.

Either you believe in it or you don`t. Either you
see the benefits or you don`t.

For me, I see the benefit of growing a community
whom I can encourage, motivate and communicate
with them as well, as Juanita stated.

What has touched me is to learn that people worldwide:
Africa, Panama, Canada, Germany, Italy and around the
global have the same desires as those in the United States.

What are you learning from your website visitor? How can
you make a connection with him or her once they leave your
website?

Either you`re interested in it or not. Opt in pages are only a
way for someone to raise their hand to say, "Yes I`m interested
in this topic, product, or service."

Nhgnikole you`ve been pleased with your results and your
success, so this is something you truly don`t need to grow
and communicate with your vistors, don`t you agree?

Continue to make this the best day ever!

Won`t Be Denied!

It`s not my model of business, no ...

But I am always interested in learning more, because we do sites for other people. For example, I`m doing a page like that now. Here`s the key features though:

1) We can use programming to only display the squeeze page if you haven`t been there before. If you`re a return visitor, you go directly to the site.
2) Our squeeze page has a "no thanks" option which will give you the option to bypass the squeeze, look around, and then sign up for more information once you feel more comfortable with the company.
3) The site is not just a squeeze page, so the company doesn`t look like it`s hiding anything or just trying to get your email address.

When a squeeze page sits on the same domain as, or in front of, a company`s main page it`s very important to consider the features that Nikole mentioned she`s implementing for her client.

This is no doubt a company that intends to reach it`s clients and prospects on a number of different levels and not just to offer prospects a "my way or the highway" means of communication.

I know of a number of internet entrepreneurs who have implemented similar features in their sites. One in particular developed a comprehensive website that includes contact information, proof of his success, a blog, a forum, plenty of free resources, and much more.

Instead of blocking prospects from investigating these pages, the entrepreneur uses a landing page that allows for prospects to circumvent it in the ways that Nikole mentioned. Does it work?... He has an opt in list of over 100,000 subscribers.

Nikole,
I love these ideas:

2) Our squeeze page has a "no thanks" option which will give you the option to bypass the squeeze, look around, and then sign up for more information once you feel more comfortable with the company.

thanks!
