Phew! Ever get the feeling you`ve been in the "Batcave" a bit too long? It`s so nice to come out and bask in the SUN (StartUpNation)

Hello to all you fine folks out here!

After working with a developer that I found here on SUN, it seems that the SOW has changed by more than 70% primarily due to integration needed for third party applications. So far, I have built my own site and registration, and I have the pieces and moving parts for the kit-n-kaboodle, now how to put them together?

Any takers? Please PM me if you are interested in the details.

So now, I present to you the merchant info and regstration site for GreenBeans® Rewards.  Please let me know the good, the bad and the ugly!

Please note: the header will be changing as I receive my super cool new graphics from Tangent Creative  so be kind to my amateur design.

if there is any problem with the link, here is the site: www.getyourgreenbeans.com

So now, I will hide under my desk until the smoke has cleared, fire away!

Goodrich.

A message pops up and says the website is trying to open a page on our intranet, will you allow it?  I click "yes" and then I get a message stating that the website was blocked by local proxy.

The front page is ... really long and wordy.

I am .. well, slightly confused on the topic.
I think you need to draw me a map.

If I make some kind of green business, you`re going to give me some kind of card that does what?

I`m envisioning some kind of graphical flow chart.

1) We give you card -> 2) you tell your customers -> 3) you make more sales.
See? Simple. s.i.m.p.l.e.

Good to know, believe or not, the first draft was even longer! Sheesh, why is it always easier to edit someone else`s work?

One question though, ther are a lot of details that I really want to include somewhere, any recommendations? Maybe a synopsis and a link for More details? hmm...

Well, why not break your pages into different subject or pages, Don`t write show the whole topic, perhaps a paragraph or two and a "read more" or More Info button at the bottom of each square. What you will be accomplishing by doing that is, if your customer is interested he will continue on to the next page and the next.
Break it into categories instead of trying to throw everything out to your customers all at once.

Or what you can do is use a simple javascript that when the customer clicks on the read more/ more infor Button the page opens downward (its neat to see the page drop and display all the info. (Im not to sure how much programming you know)
But I think your best bet would be to break the page into 4 quadrants and have them link to another page.
Also, your images!!!!
Do not resize the images by simply grabbing it from one end and pressing the shift key down as you resize the image what you want to do is Scale the image.

The difference between scaling an image and resizing it is:
If you scale the image, you don`t break or shrink the pixels.
When you resize, you are breaking the pixels. Example if you need a picture to be 200 x 120 Scale the picture to it`s size don`t try to stretch a 180 x 100 image into a 200 x 120 <td></td> space,  Use the appropiate size to avoid seeing a distorted image.
Also, on the "Logo" I noticed you are using a .jpg? Kill all the unwanted colors. Avoid using Photoshop or Illustrator to create your web site.
Remember, photoshop is for images, Illustrator is for Printed Media.
Try using Fireworks by Adobe.. Its specifically for web and the tools are fabulous.

too many words.
most people briefly glance at a webpage - at least the front page anyway.
what`s needed is something concise, right to the point, and that will grab people`s attention. i know it`s easier to say and extremely tough to do. if you need try to look at other sites in the same industry and see what works for their sites.
if i have time i`ll sketch some rough concepts up.

Okie dokie, downsized the homepage, MUCH less to readd, will work on breaking up the other parts - Any better?

Thanks for all of your tips! With a little work and a lot of help from you guys, it`ll be ship-shape in no time.

Nuevolution, the header will be changing shortly, thanks for the graphics tips

txbassguy, I would greatly appreciate any rough concepts, sketchs!

Hey MNGrillGuy, no solution yet for the blocking...anyone have any thoughts on that?

Your pages are not rendering correctly in FireFox - the packages pages is almost unreadable due to the problem.

Save having to post on 2 forums....

We specialise in bespoke web programming and therefore may be able to assist you with your project. I assume that you have a set of business requirements drawn up - if you can send these or if they dont exist then a description of the functionality you require/ what existing services the site needs to integrate with and I will be able to confirm if this is something we can work with you on and generate a quote.

Regards
Ast
