Google Adword Tool : This is one of my favorite tools as most of the time I have targeted keywords in Google. So it provides the keyword list, its competition and the no. of times that keywords has been searched on Google and its Search partner sites. This way you can see what keywords are more preferable to target.

Google Insight : When there is a requirement of making a comparison between two keywords in different countries, this tool would provide a detail comparison between two keywords and would also provide difference in search trends between them.

eBay Keyword Tool : When you are looking for product specific keywords, This tool would provide information of the keywords searched on eBay for specific keywords. If you want to research long tail keyword used by people for searching products with features, this tool is the best to use.

Putting good quality content on your website that won't go out-of-date in a few weeks or months is an easy way to boost search engine optimization. By making the content you use useful now and in the future you won't need to remove it and replace it over and over again - you can simply add to it on a regular basis.

A website with very poor content or very little content is an SEO no-no if you want good search engine rankings so get your typing head on and create some content that people will be glad to read now and in 10 years' time.

Google Adwords Keywords tool is best for doing keyword analysis. But before taking a final decision on the keywords you should place yourself in place of user and re-consider your choice, whether you have chosen the right Keyword or not.

1. Google Keyword Tool. Free and yes, it is developed by Google.

2. Google Trends.

3. Google Insights.

4. freekeywords.wordtracker.com

5. SEOcockpit.

6. SEOmoz

Above are the keyword tools I use in researching keywords and determining its competitiveness. Then, I can determine what is the best keyword to use to rank a particular website.

However, no keyword tool can really give an accurate result. No keyword tool can even come close to the real search volume for a certain keyword. Keyword tools just give and estimate of monthly searches based on past searches so the results are really not accurate.
