But should we say what our ideas are on here? Because I have an idea that I am a little hesitant to say in the forum. But if I don`t how would I get backing? Confused

Not sure if I would put that idea out here. You really don`t know everyones intentions, allthough most I would say are honorable. People might scan this site just to pick up on ideas, take them and develop them before you can even finish your busisness plan.

On the contrary, if your idea is develped and you have some security (patent, big head start, something hard to duplicate, business up and running, etc.) then this would seem like the place to post about it.

Let me ask you this if you don`t mind. I need to take a survey of some sort to find out how much actual Patented product is out there. I am at a bit of a loss at how to go about it. I have been posting a survey in every forum I can find. Any clue at what else I can do?

Thanks for the response, I have a new way to market New Product.  But the research I am doing has to do with knowing if I can get a continuous stream of new product. Aside from that product I can surround the inventors with manufacturing, prototyping and such from good friends in the business that enjoy this. I will possibly couple this with online marketing basically to the big companies that wouldn`t except the smaller inventor. It would start off reasonably small. And down the road if all goes well I would like to take it national. That is about as much as I can say.

There is a neat site called Advisor garage, which was built by a SUN member, that you may be able to talk in confidence and possibly get help with funding.

You can ask Andrew for help, and he will guide you on which way to go.

I assume, since you posted on the startup funding forum that you are planning or wanting to acquire funding. Obviously it`s unlikely that someone will provide funding for your idea without knowing what it is. On the other hand, it`s not "wise" to tell everyone about your idea.

I suggest developing a clear statement of the problem that your invention resolves. Generally, you can share this problem statement without divulging any intellectual property.
