Nope... Still don`t get it.

Anyone else want to provide insight?

I`m with you Vincent.

I believe it`s a mistake to over complicate that which is so simple. Henry John Heinz said "to do a common thing, uncommonly well, brings success." He made a lot of money making pickles, relish and ketchup. Not exactly rocket science; but I learned early on in our marriage that if my wife asked me to get some ketchup at the store, I`d be making a second trip if I came home with anything other than Heinz.

I like the advice Norm Brodski gave. Not complicated, but he seems to be doing ok.

OK Mr Wicks,

I`ll bite. You took a simple metphor: "Between man and wealth stands a wall" and then proceeded to define it up with far out and obscure statements.  I would argue that metaphors are designed to draw parallels between things or concepts which should help us to better understand or give it stronger meaning or insight. You totally obfuscated the metaphor and achieved the opposite.

Here is my take on your metaphor-

Between man and wealth stands a wall. For some, the wall appears so tall and insurmountable they will make no attempt to pass. For some there are gated passages through the wall.

Few are born with the keys to these gates- They are the children of the extremely weathy, royalty, and some perennial policiticians.

Many are destined to earn the keys to these gates. They are the mentally gifted, the physically exceptional, and the patient and careful investor.

Then there is the most treasured path. It is for those that blast a hole through the wall with the explosive combination of ambition, hard work, and determination. This is the path of the scientist, entrepreneuer, inventor, the handicapped and the underdog athlete.

Ironically, the least valued route is often the most desired. It is traveled by those that were handed the keys or used unscrupulous and devious means by which to posess the keys. This is the path of the spoiled inheritant, the lottery winner, the criminal, the loanshark, and the lawyer...(oops did I say that out loud?)

This is not to forget the very few truly content souls who choose happily to remain separated from monetary wealth as they have found that true happiness is found deep within. They seek not the greener of grasses and remain ever aware of the treasures at their feet.

a reward to the above folks: "Genius," Bulwer tells us, "is but fine observation strengthened by fixity of purpose." Every man who is stedfastly resolute and a vigilant observer can attain success. Strength of character is resolution. "

I believe the metaphoric observation holds the key (if their is one) but none are correct, yet.

Mr Wicks,

What?  Who wrote this metaphoric observation that you speak of? It`s so disjointed that it barely carries any meaning at all.

"Moreover, do you know that the wall needs to be strengthened in everyone elses mind but your own?"

"A path over the wall, under the wall, and below the wall?"

 (Under AND below?)

"Because your fibers of being become the dominating material in the universe?"

I think the metaphoric observation needs another attempt after a visit to see an optometrist.......metaphorically speaking of course.

I, too, had to say "HUH?" when I first read it. The under and below part got me stuck. Basically, however, each man`s success is based on his/ her own experience, education, will, drive, etc. Therefore, each man`s (woman`s) ability to penetrate their own wall is as individual as they are. Going over, under, below, though, however, is dependant upon the individual.

"Moreover, do you know that the wall needs to be strengthened in everyone elses mind but your own?"

This seems to say to me that others must not be successful for you to be successful. I may have read that wrong, but that is what I got from it. In which case I do not agree.

i did some thinking about the problem today....

and i read your responses, too!

you complained about dijointed meaning, could
do nothing with it, outragious insights and the
like etc. etc. etc.

i can just imagine standing by a vault
of money with you guys while someone
is handing-over its password.......
you would make fun of the persons
ethinic vocals, or choice of password.

sorry, but I just don`t see any
hope here!

-have you made a suggestion
to show to a rich friend for his advice?

-have you asked questions
about the content?

-compared the material
to others eg. `Napoleon Hills Philosophy?`

i spent time on it today but don`t
know whether i want to share

what i think is cutting-close.

we`ll see!!

What is the nature of your wall?  i was asked.

that was pretty good but I don`t believe
you have personalized wall, rather,

you should think in terms of:

the person who has access to
wealth (great wealth) does not
need the wall. so if you want
major wealth than you must
accept anything that helps you
obtain it?

is it possible that wall exsists
not to hurt others but to protect
them because of limited financial
resources?

the great wall of China served
to keep people safe

thus, most working people would
find the `wall to wealth` a benefit
from being financially wealthy
(not everyone has the capacity
to live without protection the
wall provides)

... this is new to me, too!
