Sole Proprietorship and Business Name

Simple question, maybe.

You can be a sole proprietor but still have a business name, right? In other
words, as a sole proprietor you are not forced to use your legal name (e.g.
Jane Doe) as your business name?

Actually, I may have answered my own question -- that would be what a
DBA is for (Doing Business As). Correct?
