For a while I thought twitter was a waiste of time - What is so cool about updating my status? then as my twitter network grew I understood the power of twitter. I realized that within my network I shared the same interests with many of my `tweeple`. So every time I added a new article to my site iyazam.com I updated my twitter status as well letting my network know of the latest updates to my site. So basically on a daily basis I can get just from twitter alone a good 80-100 visits.

The real issue here is if you are creating value for your network - and this means in any social network that you are in. When you start creating value and you are sharing valuable information this will help you build a strong following, audience and maybe many loyal customers!

I have found that my business personally is growing offline then online... how is that? because people who live near by and are on my twitter network, or facebook - they see the information that I share with my network and when they realize that I am just a few miles from them - they will contact me.

My efforts online - bounce offline. This is the power of social networking and social media!

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it,  but  yahoo360 might be worthwhile.   I do agree that with so many social network sites sprouting up, they can really get time consuming.  It`s a good idea to try and dwindle the sites down to the most effective for your particular business, although that in itself may be a challenge.  But in the long run, it`s certainly worth it.

I love this topic of social networking and networking in general.  As a Networking Coach, I run into these types of questions everyday.  If you would like to get involved in a lively discussion on networking topics, feel free to join my Skype room (must have Skype - it`s free - downloaded on your computer).  You can find us at http://www.runlancaster.com/skype-room/networking

You can also follow me on Twitter @caroldeckert

My preferences on social networking platforms are LinkedIn, FaceBook and Twitter.  I have not ever looked at MySpace because the reputation is that mainly kids/teenagers hang out there and it is more social than business.

If I can be of any assistance, please do let me know!

I am now following you Carol.  I`m amazed at all the daily tweets everyone does.  Is their a benifit to your business to say I`m eating this or now I`m watching TV or drinking wine? I`m not sure why everyone does this. Or is it all just for fun, and to meet people? I have to say I`m a little confused about all this twittering.

An alternative to basecamp is 5pm...both are great ways to organize your activities. I suggest you keep it minimized to just a couple of things. I have found the greatest return using twitter and my blogs. I am a member of just about every site you can think of...and really, I could use just those two tools and have a great return.

Whatever you do, be yourself! And if you want to find me on twitter, I am @jeanannvk

Mark, it`s SuN and you have to give a "sites" a chance to see you are sincere about building your company and brand vs. just posting to drive traffic to your site, generating click revenue, and selling an affiliate marketing program ... all of which is implied by your question (and while that is all well and good, and perhaps right up the alley of some sites and members here, it is not something everyone is going to support).

I`m just a simple taco maker and think anyone who acts upon anything I say is bound to hit a rubber room, but I can tell you SuN is the best site for social networking with a great group of people who are honest and really care about helping each other build their companies; and I`m not surprised you`re not "getting" the same involvement/feedback from other places ... best of luck to you.
