Hey there, Signe :-) You`re well on your way to success if, in high school, you`re seeing the excellent benefit to joining a forum like this.

One thing you could do on your Web site is change the buttons you`re using for "next" and "previous." The common symbol for next is the > sign, not the >| with the bar to the right of the angle. I thought you had only two pictures in each category, the "first" and the "end." :-) Same thing the other way, with |< being the very first, and < being previous (without the bar to the left of the angle).

Cool pics, though! What would you say your niche will be?

WELCOME, I have been doing photography since I retired. I have had little luck selling my photos on the internet but have done very well showing at local art shows and farmers markets. If your interest is in showing your work and making some money try the local Farmers Markets.

Good luck with your Artistic adventure.

I love the photographs ...

Few suggestions.

1) Sell me on the front page. Instead of saying "welcome to", why not tell me why you rock? What are you offering me? Your pictures are a leap above the stupid things I took my senior year, so why not describe the benefits? Try this article: Copywriting.

2) You have a few odd places where it says something like "add text here".

3) The navigation isn`t making much sense ... it almost needs to be consolidated. From an outsider`s view, why is there "portfolio" and "college portfolio"? There should just be one button that says "portfolio" and put your pictures there.

4) I would put a watermark on your pictures so that people don`t snag them.

There`s a few other things I was thinking but that`s probably enough to get you started ...

Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement everyone!!

CraigL, I will look into the button issue.  I would say my "niche" currently is wildlife photography, but I do a lot of photojournalism for my school newspaper and like that as well.

nhgnikole, thanks for all the great tips, i will start on those right away!! the portfolio pages are currently under construction so they are a little incomplete right now... i`m sending in portfolios to some colleges in the coming months and want an online portfolio to go with them.  i`ve had an issue with microsoft office live though in that it won`t let me upload content from third party web design programs (like lightroom) so i`m figuring out how to make those pages look nice enough for an art department.... anyone have an idea??

signe,

it`s great to see (read) you here in the StartupNation forums. it was very exciting to have you a part of the amazing other winners of the competition.

if you have special photos you`d like to promote, i`d be happy to include them occassionally in my blog here at StartupNation.

i am often doing media stuff (TV, magazines, newspapers) and would love to be able to refer them your way as i have other winners... please let me know if that`s welcomed.

best,

rich

And don`t forget to build a profile and upload your best images! Google crawls the profiles here, so have a nice description in your profile. You might also put together a Marketplace ad, which again gets crawled by Google.
