It takes my Dad maybe 20 minutes to fall asleep in front of the television.  The televisions keeps me awake, but it only takes 15-20 minutes to fall asleep in front of the computer screen.

Does this happen to anyone else?  What do you think causes it (this happens even if I`m not sleepy when I sit down)?

Throughout high school and college I`ve always had a problem staying awake in any math class.  It didn`t matter how much sleep I got the night before - I would be snoring withing 10 minutes of any math lecture.

Not sure of the cause but I think it`s just lack of stimulation (math is boring!)  Are you bored by computers?

Everybody knows that there are secret energy rays that come out of video monitors of any sort, television, computer, games, etc. They stimulate the sleep centers in the human brain, based on the shape of the monitor`s edge.

Some people genetically react to monitors with straighter edges than those with more curved edges. There`s nothing you can do about it, although I read an article about a new form of brain surgery that can at least increase the time before falling asleep to an hour.

The best solution, though, is to use opaque glasses or those "sleep masks" when working in front of any sort of video display unit. In rare cases, the ultra-high audio signals can sometimes produce sleep, but it`s typically a visual problem.

No, silly.

That`s Carl Sagan.

Wait, he was the `billions and billions` guy.

Nevermind.
