All input is good! I hope some of you can spare a moment or two and offer some of yours`. I`m not very computer-literate and funds are quite limited... www.rollintheplumber.com       any words well taken!    Thank You

I think it looks pretty good.

Make sure you have Titles.... your home page just says "Home."  If you set the title to be meaningful and keyword rich it will help with SEO.

You are probably after a local market - be sure to include Ohio and other local keywords.

If it were me I would drop some of the ads - especially the irrelevant ones.  You are not going to make any money off of them (unless you are expecting 1000s of visitors a day)... I think they just distract from YOUR message.

I think you have a good start.

Hi,

I also think the design of the website is good.  I wouldn`t change the design but I would change the organization of  the top links & content of the home page.

1.  I hate ads on commercial / service websites.  What are you trying to do, sell your products or someone elses?  Most people will understand your site is selling plumbing services but some may get confused...you may not think so but people will. Unless you are a best buy or an amazon and people know your company don`t have ads when starting out.

2.  I think you should re-arrange your angie list ads so they are in the "standard" spots.  Put them at the bottom of the page like we did for this landscaping client:

3.  Top Links:  They are not standard.  People will be looking for services, products, contact us, about us, portfolio, or standard links like that.  You have a couple of those but I would strongly suggest adding a services link.  I don`t like comments, guest log, or the $$$ link.

I would change comments to "Ask The Slugger."  If I am looking for a plumber I am not going to be interested in leaving any comment on a site but I may be interested in just asking a plumbing question.  Answer customer`s questions this way will (1) bring you leads (2) brand yourself.

Guest log is old.  You can change that to `Join Newsletter` or just remove it.  They only way people will sign up for your newsletter if you have helpful information on your website and they want more info or if you have sales.  But no one contacts a plumber unless they need one ASAP...I suggest you remove it.

The $$$ link I was just confused.  Your website is about plumbing...stick with that.

4.  Home page:  I think this is a good start.  But I would hit the drawing board and see if you can do better.  You want simple call to action buttons / links on the home page.

DoGood and Jeff,
All points are well taken and some even pondered on my own... I`m not sure how far to venture from the norm... "ask the Slugger"... I love stuff like that!!  Now, ads in front? Thank you... I do not want to confuse nor alienate (well taken) and why have Guest, Comment and About... again, thanx. Guess my homework assignment has been issued... please give me a few days ( 2 ) to make some adjustments... I`ve got some thoughts but not the fastest at applying them (computer literacy)
                                       thank you again,  Rollin

It is a pretty good start, but I notice two problems.  First - where the heck are you???  This is the WORLD Wide Web, so wouldn`t you want your location to be obvious?  Search engines like it too when, for example, someone is searching for a plumber in Anchorage, you don`t really want to be in the results list, do you?  Second, I`ll agree with the others - dump the ads.  They do nothing for your site.  Also, I don`t like the "Thank You" line.  It just doesn`t sound professional.
