Small Businesses and Trust Marks

Trust – it is the word that small businesses know is one of the keys to their business success. Traditionally, consumers tend to trust small business owners – whether it is the helpful pharmacist around the corner, or the owner of the sandwich shop down the street that will always greet you with a friendly hello.

Unfortunately, consumers don’t always have that same trust when doing business online. Consumers do not always know who is behind a website they are visiting and need confirmation that it is run by a legitimate business. One way to receive that confirmation is through a symbol or mark on the website itself, indicating that it is indeed safe. It is important for small businesses that have an online presence to have a trust mark, such as VeriSign’s Trust Seal, on their website.

In addition, small businesses must deploy technology that provides complete protection and scans regularly for malware and other threats. You don’t want to be known as the website responsible for compromising confidential customer information and spreading malware. It gives customers peace of mind that your site is a place where they can safely browse, without worrying if they are downloading malware, or if their information may be compromised.

Businesses need to more closely examine what they can do to benefit their customers and differentiate themselves from their competitors online. As more consumers seek out unique services from small businesses online, trust marks will play a stronger and more prominent role in establishing online relationships between individuals and entities.

Chris, for me the problem is that since I am a new business the fee you charge is high. Perhaps you guys device a new business program in which the new business pays per users to the website... rahter than a monthly fee in the hundreds
