Real estate investment: It is always a good idea to invest in property. The potential profits are vast. It is now common knowledge that the economy is not as buoyant as in previous times. A lot of homeowners are now being forced into foreclosure and short sales. If you read property advertisements you will learn that many properties are now seriously undervalued. If you have access to the necessary funds then property investing can be an excellent field to get in to. Of course it will require some travel as you will need to look at properties and meet clients. It may be easier if you can choose a partner to operate with.

Agree with this.  I have a couple of friends who have purchased homes recently and with the economy down, they manage to get very good deals.  Now is certainly a good time to buy as there are lots of incentives being given out.

I agree,  but you first need to have the funds to be able to do it.

Retire in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Cost less to live here.

If you cant find get the rent from your tenants or find tenants that can pay your fee, whats the point? can you afford to pay the mortgage on an empty home for x number of months?

Stocks in my opinion are less risky...buy stock in good/solid companies. The returns can get just as good, even greater, and there is no monthly expense.

True, Real Estate can always be a good investment. Note "can". Southern Lenders makes a point - can you afford to carry the house without income? There is a program that matches residential RE investors with pre-qualified buyers. It is Lease/Purchase where the company over-sees the process from start to finish. They also require buyers to go through home-buyer education course and home-owner education course during the Lease period. www.SpringHarbourProgram.com

Buying real estate can be very risky unless you know what you are doing.
