Okay I'm not sure if this idea is completely stupid, or if I'm posting in the wrong area. But I have an idea for a site similar to the likes of GetAfreelancer.com Except it would work around the idea of freelancing things that are not commonly seen. How would you code something of that sort? I know I will probably spend more time coding it myself than I would if I spent the money to pay someone to do it. But its more of a project for me and being able to say Ive accomplished the work. Any ideas, thoughts, or information that could be provided on this would be greatly appreciated. I can be reached by email at tyler.ashmore@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance.

Have you performed any research that would say this project has a market?

I dont have any hard in writing evidence that there would be a market, but Im sure there would be, im currently in college and the number one thing anyone i talk to is looking for is someone to do their research for their term papers for them, not the actual paper itself, but the just the research so that the paper would still retain that persons writing style.

Basically the general idea behind the site is that there would be two ends, one for people willing to do research, and another for people who needed research that they need done. The rest would follow the model of freelancer.com

You could spend a few thousands of dollars to get a functioning web page only to find out that the market won't pay for it.  Google "term paper research service" to see what you're up against.

thanks for the help, theres not actually a service in the first three pages that offers a service of doing the research, they all just sell cookie-cutter style papers. Is that a good sign?

I can't say that there is a market for this type of work, but as a developer, I can tell you those freelance sites are going to take some time to build. There's a lot of elements involved with those like escrowing money, bidding system, user accounts, ratings, etc.

To have it built professional quality (developers who have been doing this 5-10 years) it will probably cost about $10k. (2 month estimate for getting it built). If you want to outsource (India, Vietnam, etc) they will probably charge less than that, but you will get entry level work quality. The people over seas aren't dumb. They have guys who are pro's (5-10 yrs experience) manage the projects, but they have all the new guys write a bulk of the code.

Just like everyone says, it's an actual business so you need to approach it like one. Do your market research, find out if there is an actual demand for this type of stuff. Sites like etsy.com exist so there might be, but the last thing you want to do, is spend $5k and not get any ROI. Trust me, I've dropped a good amount of coin myself for stuff that got thrown out.
