I apologize if this question has been answered before, but I was wondering if it is "proper" to talk to several MFG`s at one time? or should I keep the idea with as few a possible?

Any mfg will assume you`re speaking to at least two others. All things remaining the same, go with the middle bid.

I think your Coolerwagon is ... well, cool!

They will assume you are quoting with multiple manufacturers ... I don`t know about going with a middle bid (you have a lot of decisions points on choosing who to use and getting apples to apples is hard; and you should contact the references they provide) but do whatever feels right to you and at least you`ll be able to sleep at night knowing you`re the one who decided!

Thanks,

Sounds like good advice to me. I agree price is important, but also to consider is geographic location. we have a few that are in driving distance that may just make the difference.

Hey coolwagonman, nice invention.   I can`t offer any advice regarding this thread but I did want to mention something:  Have you considered trying to market your wagon to companies that would use it for outdoor promotions?  For example, I`ve seen plenty of companies giving away a softdrink at outdoor concerts and events.  I could imagine a softdrink or bottled water company using your wagon at parks, at pre-game tailgait parties and other outdoor events.   You could customize the sides to fit their company colors / image / logo etc.  And, since it`s battery powered, it even has an eco-friendly appeal.

Just food for thought (assuming you haven`t already thought of it.)

Casi,

That is another awsome idea, one that we did not think of yet. Since we began this project it is amazing just how many areas of the market that could use this product. I guess when we try to solve just one area of need (going to the beach) it can open up to many other uses.

Thanks so much for your input!

Hi Ken,

Same issue pops up in writing.  Should you submit to one publication at a time and put your project on hold for months, maybe even a year each time?  Or, send to multiple publications thus increasing your chances of a more rapid response.  In turn, moving your project ahead faster.

Cool Wagon,
Are you looking to build a business around the wagon?

One thing you need to take into account when you are talking to manufacturers other than the price is the terms they are willing to give you. If you end up working with any of the major retailers, many of them pay on Net 90. That means, that after a purchase, you will not be paid for ninety days.

Having a manufacturer who has a slightly higher cost but is willing to extend generous payment terms to you is an asset. If you have any other questions or you would like for me to expand upon this, feel free to send me a message.

Best,
Eric Corl

Eric,

Thanks for your comments as well. We are in contact with several MFG`s, two are local, one in China, and few within the U.S. Our biggest problem is having the proper drawings for these companies to even get us a quote. Certainly finding a company that will extend terms will definitly be a must but also help with design/CAD would be helpfull as well.  So finding such a MFG is the dificult part. Any suggestions or ideas feel free to email or pm me.

 Dear Coolerwagonman,

What a great idea! Only in America.

I think the NASCAR crowd would by this.

Try to make it in the USA.

We can do it faster, better, and cheaper
