Thanks everyone who has suggested ideas.

For my article directory website I use a product called ArticleLive by Interspire.com

Interspire have just informed me they  are currently creating a new shopping cart product which will easily integrate with ArticleLive. I have been very impressed with ArticleLive so I am going to see what this new product is like before changing. The new product is out in the next 3 months.

Thanks again.

Andrew

I have used many different types of ecommerce shopping carts.. there are a couple of really good php scripts, oscommerce and joomla that have many template to customize and joomla has a shopping cart called virtual mart with handles all the majot credit card companies and shipping mods for all the shippers.

These scripts are easy to install and easy to use with an admin backend that you just load the products with images and narratives etc.

find your cart beffore you order you web hosting, some scripts like php will use a unix server and asp scripts will use a windows server.

If had had a tip it would be, to select your cart and components carefully and don`t just settle for a monthly fee cart..you can spend the money in other places in your business.

Hope my info helps,
Steve

I recommend using an open source shopping cart such as osCommerce. I`ve gone the paid route (monsterCommerce), as well as the free route, and I have discovered many more technical problems with the non open source ones.

Building your own cheap shopping cart also lets you cut back on the costs that other more expensive providers charge and earns more profit because you spend less on a shopping cart company.
