Wow, a year and a half since I first talked about the music I`m doing. Okay, for those who remember from way back then, I`m still progressing on the music front.

Turns out there was another "Neil Speers" who released a CD just before me (he`s in England) and so people were emailing me thinking it was him. So, thought maybe should change my handle a bit.

Based on the direction my music is taking, along with being a slight deviation of what my grandfather was called, I`m now performing as Hardwire Speers. This year I`ve released the full-length CD "Breakfast at Epiphany`s."

On this CD is a fuller sound than my previous EP, plus I`m much happier with my singing. While I`m pretty good with the guitar, singing is something I never pursued and took awhile to find my voice. I recently heard a story that Elvis didn`t immediately find his voice - he spent a long time in the studio trying out different approaches such as singing like Sinatra, etc. While I`m no where near that level, I am much happier with how I approach singing now.

This fall I`m doing a cross-Canada tour (in conjunction with a photography expedition for a book - part of my Day Job as a self employed commercial photographer.)

If you`re interested in the "indie" music industry, there was a great documentary called "What Is Indie?" which explored just how that term is being defined now. Interesting conclusion to it.

Glad to see you`re living your dream! What kind of guitar do you record with? I just got a new Breedlove AD25/SR plus and it sounds/looks great!

Mostly I used a Takamine GS series which - after years and years of playing it - is sounding pretty good. I also borrowed a fiends custom made Beardsell acoustic which was pretty amazing. For electrics I use a Telecaster (Mexican) and an old (`70s) Aria archtop which has the most amazing voice.

I`ve played a couple of friends Breedloves (briefly) and was pretty impressed - very nice choice.
