I feel like a serial business killer. I start a new idea, spend money and then give up. It is a cycle I would like to break soon.

I just started a new business that lets other people start their own website hosting business. Esentially it gives anyone a turnkey business for $10 a month. I think I am at the right pricepoint for this market and the weak economy.

I know the hosting market is saturated, but the site builder that I leased is cool and I had a few friends try it and they really liked it. I think there is a market for it. I know that is not a strong focus group especially when they are sitting around drinking beer, but that was all I had.

My site is just started but I was hoping to get some feedback on this idea. I have already spent a bunch of money and would like to know if the idea is sound before I dig still another hole.

My website is http://iamawebhost.com/

Any suggestions, feedback or ideas would be apreciated. I am a grown up, so don`t hold back. I would rather know now than when I am closing another idea in debt.

Couldn`t people just go to like godaddy.com or hostnine and become resellers?  Why would they need your business as an intermediary?

Here are my thoughts:

How did you come up with this idea?  Did you go into it thinking "how can I make money" or did you think "how can I solve a problem?"

It seems to me it was the former rather than the latter.

To be honest, there are a ZILLION web hosting companies out there, all of which offer pretty much the same product - a commodity if you will.  This is extremely difficult to become successful in, because it is next to impossible to differentiate yourself.

Next, how do you expect to get new business?  Mailing lists? CPC through Google?  This costs money, and it is difficult to target interested buyers.

Next, your site looks like a "get rich quick" scheme.  There is a TON of text, and it is extremely difficult to just find the answer to the question "WHATS THE POINT?"  The design looks very cookie-cutter, like someone just threw something together hoping some schmucks would bite on the concept.

The name needs to go... its just like seeing those old white labels with black lettering on cans of green beans that simply states "green beans."  Come up with something more catchy and fun.

Lastly, I can`t say I get the point still.  If a thousand people became web hosts through your company, how could they all make any money?  The current market for hosting is already incredibly saturated, with big players spending MILLIONS in advertising to get just small gains in market share.

I`m not trying to bash or be a jerk...just giving my honest opinion and thoughts.  I`ve been where you are...I tried 3-4 different businesses before landing on something that worked, and spent pretty much every penny doing it.

Try to address the issues I brought up.  Clean up the page and cut out about 75% of that text.  Maybe make a bulletted list in a clean format to make it easily apparent what you are trying to convey.  Find a way that a large number of people can use your company and still make money without further saturating the market.  Be innovative and come up with a fresh approach, this will be your key.

Hope I was able to help in some way...good luck!

Dear Emptypockets,

It`s good that you are always willing to dust off the dirt and get back on the Entrepreur horse but you need to look at doing things with more method and thought.

A business plan would be a good idea for you to track all the various aspects of starting and running a potential business.  I`ve found that it`s actually helped me to not jump into wrong businesses because it revealed some fatal errors.

Another recommendation is to sit down with yourself and be honest.  What do you like to do?  From your post you are starting things and not finishing them because you ultimately  lose interest.  If you built a business around one of your passions you wouldn`t lose the fervor for it.  That is one of the biggest SECRETS to success!

Hey Emptypockets

There are a set of other issues that are at cause of your experience.  My esteemed collegues have give you great practical advice which will serve you well when you are clear about the right business for you.

People do not fail becuase they lack skill, knowledge, best practices, or desire.  They struggle becuase they lack the inner resources necessary for success.

It is interesting that the very things that drive the entrepreneurail spirit in people is often also the very things that sabotages their success.  Sounds crazy but its true.  I`ve been stuying this for 39 years and have the business building success (and failure) to proove it.

Professor2020 offer VERY sound council in his closig remark about passion.

The challenge can be that your true passions may be burried beneath layer upon layer of `shoulds` and `shouldn`ts`, "can`ts" etc.  You need to way to clear this stuff out to reveal them to you.

That`s how I can help you.  I offer tons of direct practical guidence expressly for this purpose.

It is simply too much to translate to an article like this, so let me suggest you visit www.theperfectbizfinder.com.

If you always do what you`ve always done, you`ll always get what you always got.

Take a step back and analyze the approach you have taken in your businesses.  The next time do it differently.  Even the best ideas can fail if approached the wrong way.

I am confident you can find the answers!  Good luck.
