Hello Everyone,
First of all, I am new to the community and I want to say hello to each one of you.
I write this post since lately I've been experiencing the following.
I use to read a lot (mainly newspapers) and while I do it, I tend to write down potential business ideas. After that I spend a good 1 or 2 hours analyzing my ideas one by one. I delete most of them and I keep only the ones I consider interesting and with a potential customer base.
After this first screening I try to develop a business model which could fit the idea. My last step is that of researching the market and see if there are already existing companies offering what I thought it was an innovative product.
Oddly, it happens that very specific ideas I brainstormed have been or are in the process of being developed.
Some ideas that I brainstormed and that I subsequently discovered being already existing or in the process of being developed are:
- An extension MonoPod for taking self portraits with your digital camera (Opteka developed it already).
- Make money and sell Instagram Photos (Instaprint thought about that some months before me).
- Offer an online on-demand tutoring platform (InstaEdu is currently in its Beta).
Many others are the examples.
Just for the record, when I brainstorm I do my best to remain in the most objective state of mind possible, without being influenced by external inputs in order to avoid that my ideas could potentially be stained by altready existing products or services.
Now my question is, how can I overcome this issue? How can I be the first to brainstorm such ideas and then be the first one to develop and implement them?
Hope somebody can help me with that..
Cheers,
Matt
