I recently posted this article about creating self-serve startups that are self-sustaining so that they don't require you to babysit them: The Self-Serve Startup

It's what works for me and still lets me enjoy my life without being chained to email or phone.  That way I still do my contracting by day and can improve my sites on my schedule.

John,

Your post was just intro I guess. Hope to see more on this topic because I am interested in no venture capital/capital business which is hard to come because you cannot except something big unless you put something big into it. am I right?

I'll be posting on this further on the site, but to me the goal is to start small with your startup and let it fund its own growth.  If your service isn't worth paying for, it will die off naturally.  If it's worth paying for, let people pay and let the business fund its own scaling.  I posted about that a little on my vacation: "I'm a Startup Rancher"
