Sorry but marriage is antique thinking. It was invented in the dark ages when they treated a variety of ailments by bleeding people with leeches and when women were the property of their husbands! Now we have antibiotics and no fault divorce. Marriage needs an update. Rather than celebrating the ideals of marriage, which is pure marketing and actually feeds the problem of unsatisfactory marriages, why not run a campaign based on gratitude and satisfaction. [Or you could just run a campaign based on new thinking and old thinking. Modernize Your Marriage or something.]

Alright, let`s just *suppose* Cookiemonster has even a remotely valid point. :-) The site as it stands celebrates anniversaries---the marking of a slice of time to celebrate an ongoing relationship. Do we HAVE to call that relationship a "marriage?" No. We could call it a business partnership, too.
I think the site should focus on exactly what it is---an anniversary and occasion site providing tokens of appreciation and enjoyment. If it just "happens to mention" marriage, that`s fine. After all, a birthday party is an anniversary too.

My focus will remain marriage - and the celebration of it. I know people who are happy being unmarried and many who are happy being married. I don`t want to be "all things to all people." I do, however, feel that marriage does not have to have anything to do with needing antibiotics or leeches or anyone being "owned" by anyone else.
But this post is not about the merits or demerits of marriage. It`s about the focus my particular site will take.
There are plenty of sites out there catering to satisfaction in any and all forms. My particular form happens to be marriage.

Not everyone will be interested in a site devoted to celebrating marriage, but then again not everyone will be interested in a site devoted to happy bachelors either. I guess that`s what keeps this thing we call the world wide web go around.

Y`know how they say if you answer the phone with a smile on your face, people can "hear" that smile in your tone of voice? Same concept, I think, developing a Web site. You hold a purpose in your mind, and it then affects all that you actually put down in content, graphics, layout, and so on.
So you can hold in your mind the abstraction of "celebrating marriage," but focus the site on gifts and/or exchange tokens. One thing I`d consider, based on how often I`ve seen it done, is nicely printed "I Owe You" something.
You`ve seen it, where a partner offers a token that can be exchanged for a backrub, dinner, dish washing, and so on. But nobody`s actually put a printed form up that the Web visitor can choose or customize, then hit the print button. It`d be easy, with some basic layouts, a pick list of whatever you or others can come up with, and an "other" option to type in the exchange value.
