I am a successful independent actor who loves working in collaboration with others, but doesn`t exactly know how to get started in finding those people. I would love perspectives on how to go about doing this.

Specifically, I want to find people for:
  • Teammates to create an internet business (not necessarily the same one, we could support each other on separate businesses as well)
  • People to help me with various aspects of my business, in higher- and lower-level professional capacities
  • And actually, creative endeavors, other projects, etc.
Of course, these people must be, like me, independent but also really like working in collaboration.

In Robert Allen`s system - http://www.oneminutemillionaire.com/tools/hots.asp - I am a "hare" - big on new ideas, fresh concepts, and the big picture - and would love to surround myself with other types, but often find myself attracted to other hares.

I put an ad out on Craigslist last year that I had a POTENTIAL job, and got LOTS of responses (amazing how quickly people will respond to the possibility that a stream of income has already been created). A few of the people seemed downright crazy. Several seemed really neat, but never panned out. Everyone wanted to "sell" themselves--almost as if it were more important to be "the one," rather than finding out what the "job" would actually have been about!

So, I basically encountered the classic "it`s hard to find good help" question. And also, the "how do I find other self-directed people to work with, who also enjoy collaboration" question.

I would appreciate any perspectives you might have, in particular anything based on your actual experience in achieving this or a similar goal.

Thanks!

I suggest getting involved in the entrepreneur community in your area.  This is different than the usual business networking stuff.  I`ve found groups on Meetup.com which led to me finding other events for entrepreneurs in my area.  I actually found one of my business partners this way.  Do a search for the `Open Coffee Club`.  I don`t know where you`re at but there might be one in your area.

Or heck, start a group yourself.  Have people come to you!
