I`m very skeptical about anyone "giving" away something in this American society. Most people I know just take and take. Those who actually give are of modest means and knowledge. I had two "advisors" who both ended up wanting to advise me only at $150/hr. I did pay $300 for past advices but no more.
On the one hand I completely agree with you innovator7 because it seems that most people arent interested, if they dont see something in it for them selves. take the web site , it is free for now but it has been made available to make a profit, which I can completely understand, we all have to make a living.
I will even take it to the next level and say even those who want to give back to the community are doing it to make themselves feel good, just like when someone gives to the needy. They do it to make themselves feel good. If people didn`t feel good about it I do not believe that they would do it. We all have self motivating factors.
BUT ONE THE other hand. I can see how and why there are people who are more than willing to help out.
A personal situation: for about the last 2 decades I have been working on the development of my "master plan" as I refer to it. I finally have it developed to a point to where I can implement it. I could take this program and create a very nice income for myself by partnering with established businesses. The problem I have is my principles tell me that I need to implement this for the average person, to create income opportunities for people.
So for the last 5 or so years I have made more effort than I needed so I could to help others. WHY??? because I want to create a business that will offer an opportunity to people that I never had. Is it completely unselfish? No It will make me feel good.
I viewed a post on a different thread where one of our members said that these idea development companies arent all bad and that he works for one that is on the up and up. WE talked a little and I quickly discovered that their firm was looking for 25K upfront and also wanted a 50/50 split. To me that isnt quite the opportunity I had in mind. I like the 50/50 split proposition, but most people dont have 25K in their back pocket on a promise.
My idea is close to a 50/50 split but my organization will cover all of the expenses. I have developed a partnership that is going to be going live where there will be a 10$ a month membership fee but the idea person will retain upwards of 85% of the profits. These are opportunities that people can live with without having to take out a mortgage.
Agreed??

PS. good luck on the web site, with the proper development and marketing I feel it has great potential. I tried to register but ran into a snag, trying to reregister prevented me from using the same email/username. probably have to open another email account to get in now....
