Tech Startups:
Launched a new web service that brings people who would make good business advisors together with entrepreneurs and early stage businesses.

It`s a free service to help entrepreneurs get something going by hooking them up with business people in various industries and for advisors it`s a great way to discover new deal flow and perhaps get involved in a hot new company.

The site is called Advisor Garage – http://www.AdvisorGarage.com

Please sign up and if you can think of anyone that may make a good advisor or perhaps a business builder – Please forward...

Thanks

Thanks for your question - A number of avenues:

1) MBA Senior Alumni - these people have often progressed quite well within their careers in various industries including Venture Capital etc. Alumni from Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, Wharton

2) Venture Capitalists

3)  Colleagues I`ve worked with in the past - this is my third startup and have been an entrepreneur for sometime...previously raising $26M and bringing various products to market

4)  Asking Colleagues and other entrepreneurs to recommend others..hence this posting...

I`m very skeptical about anyone "giving" away something in this American society.  Most people I know just take and take.  Those who actually give are of modest means and knowledge.  I had two "advisors" who both ended up wanting to advise me only at $150/hr.  I did pay $300 for past advices but no more.

I think you are right to be skeptical - advisors are individuals and motivated by different things.  I am not sure that the more giving are those with modest means.  My personal experience - I`ve had advisors that have helped because they want to give something back and those who are entirely focused on making money. The trick is finding the right advisor who is motivated by the right reasons - Hence the service...

AdvisorGarage - Congratulations - Keep up the good work and "global" thought process.

Since returning from successfully working in virtually every culture in the world, I am "giving back to the area of my birth and make a difference" - SE Michigan. I don`t charge the individuals (companies) for ideas and contacts until after "we" are successful. Several of my Clients paid thousands of $`s to so-called "marketing Gurus" who never have been outside the State of Michigan. One comes to mind who paid a "guy" $12K and when I heard about it, I wanted her to "press charges" and I would have testified. Well, with my assistance, she recently signed 3 contracts and she is in "7th Heaven" - and guess what, I got paid!!!!

I am teaching my Clients (individuals and small-medium size companies) to "Strive for SUCCESS and material wealth will follow". I also do a considerable amount of Guest/Keynote Speaking and guess what - I do not charge and I have received compensation from attendees! I am presently developing a Cultural Tour to Ghana for the Multicultural Business Council (to be compensated later) and a PR was distributed on Friday. Details can be found at www.mbcglobal.org/Service-Tours.html. I spoke with a few business owners (in my City of Pontiac) last evening and I already have committments for me to travel to Ghana prior to the Tour to implement my Business Trident - Business, Education and Government.

I will visit your website and sign up and anyway I can assist you as an advisor for success in the global marketplace, let`s talk - get people successful and then you will see the money follow. I have contacts throughout the global marketplace and also VIP membership in 2 International Registries where I can locate members by geography and market sector.

Keep up the good work and have a great weekend.

Joe

I am vigorously nodding my head over here...people need to trust in others to make any idea or business work - 100% of nothing is less than 51% of something.

Hi Andrew,

I went to your website and completed Step 1 - registration as an Advisor. I will complete Steps 2-5 soon. I noticed you are in the UK. In the mid 1980s, I worked very closely with the UK Customs people in ypdating their Telecom requirements. Also, and this may be something for you to look at - Last month, I was a Presenter at the 2006 International DA/DQ (Directory Assistance/Directory Enquiry) Conference and I spoke at length with two individuals from the UK. They just sent me their first publication called the DAInsider and the cover story is about Latvia. I told the gentlemen that I would send it to my contacts in Latvia for follow up. Their website is www.118Tracker.com and www.jordan-comms.co.uk If you want their individual names and contact info, please send me a private email.

I can "see" we are going to do business together - and the money (Pounds, Dollars or Euros) will flow - and I take all!!!  LOL

Have a great weekend.
