Hi! We run a Jam/Jelly company and are thinking about expanding our business. We would like to hire a Salesperson or two to go around to different craft fairs ect. How would we go about hiring people locally? Is there any resources or things that we should know? Even if you think it is obvious- this is all very new!

Thanks!

Hello,

I run a few sites, and sell cruise vacations on the side.  I have been in sales for many years, and now will become an "Independent Sales Representative" so that is what I would suggest you find.  Someone to sell commission only.

All you need to do is set up a commission plan and write up a Sales Rep agreement.  You can find those online.  No need to Hire.

Hope it helps

The first step would be to recognize what a good salesperson is. Start paying attention to salespeople you come across with when you are the customer and see what about them you like. What are they doing that you find exceptionally good that you would like for someone that you would take on board.

Next talk to your supplier, they probably come across many people, and see if they know someone that is burnt out from their current job that is looking for some change.

Tell as many people as you know that you are looking to hire good salespeople.

When you interview someone, ask them a lot of questions, you want to see how they will relate to other people, what their experiences are, and if they can express themselves well when talking with others.
