We are a three year old company into IT development and related services. Our sales and revenue so far has been basically out of our known network. We are currently looking for establishing a sales network, preferably with a free lance model. We are open for negotiating on terms of engagement. If you think freelance sales model wont work, can you suggest any viable route? Thanks in advance

Finding professional sales people is a great plan. Professional sales people will want to work only on commission.

The other thing you can do is start an affiliate program which can be done cheaply or even free with some companies like Paydotcom.com

Using a virtual assistance type company, may help to lower your cost to hire sales people. That way you won't have to deal with severances, or early-termination disputes if you hire someone and then realize that you just need a quick start to spark more sales.

Business selling can be a very challenging and difficult job, because it consumes more time, and it’s demanding or expressive. The most important factor is preparation and planning to have a successful sale; Business broker have proper knowledge in this sector and they must create an exit approach into their original business preparations and this approach must have the complete information about how the business would be promoted as well as marketed.

First post!  I know this post is pretty old, but I'll take a crack at it anyway.

It would be helpful if you could post a website or provide a little more info about exactly what you're selling and the channels you're currently using. Without knowing that, here are a couple of thoughts:

  1. Is it possible to make your distribution strategy into a network marketing arrangement?  The people in your current network all have their own networks which may be able to promote your products/services.
  2. Talk with the small business development centers and Chambers of Commerce in different areas, they may be able to help connect you to local companies or distributors who would be interested in selling what you offer.
Cheers,
Steve
