I am considering purchasing a subway restaurant. I would like to pick the brain of current owners to see if this is for me. I have been searching on the net on this topic and am getting mixed feelings from people. Some owners love it, and some seem to despise the Franchise. I am also getting mixed reports on how much income you can get from one store. I would love to get an insiders perspective before i jump on board. You can email me direct or respond to this post.

thank you

how many existing subway owners have you spoken to? nothing beats first hand experience. talk to 20-25-30 and keep going. it is never enough. before buying one, see if you can shadow/closely observe the operations of an existing one.  your answers will be given by your experience doing these taks...

i personally know 2 subway owners, both of whom wished they had not gotten in. they are working way too much! however, neither is complaining about the profits the stores make. it is a question of work life balance

In considering whether to buy a franchise, you should also evaluate the option of opening your own non-franchise business of a simliar type -- not just the initial investment, but also the long-term return on that investment. Many times you will find that opening you own shop is a better financial decision than buying a franchise. If you implement the three keys to business success, planning, marketing and financial management, you can lower the risk of a stand-alone business and come out ahead!

I think a few other people mentioned this, but talk to as many franchise owners as possible. It`s the best way to learn. I`d also do some research on the net, just google Subway Franchise owners and you`re bound to find some blogs about it.

Subway is one of the most successful franchise that is making big headways in Asia and China. Do consider that.

Hey Ed I was wondering how much does it cost to actually open a Subway franchinse in china? Do you know anyone that currently has one there that you might know the average income they make in china every year? Do you think it's a better market in china than USA?

Molly says it perfectly. Why do people buy a franchise when they could build it themselves? Sales before Expenses = Success.

Franchises ask you to do the opposite and increase the odds of failure.

I wanted to ask any subway owner that I saw a Subway franchise for sale. It is only doing about $4000 a week in winter and $5000 a week in summer time. Rent is about $1300 and utility is about $800 and Salary is $5000 a month .They are asking 100,000 for the business, equipment and inventory. do you think that subway owner take home any profit with this kind of business? Is it a good deal?
