I am trying to start a moving company in wash,DC. Does anyone know the steps I would have to take to make myself a legal entity, What kind of legal entity do you recommend being that I am 1 man, a truck and 2 employees and a short list of clients. LLC, INC SOle Proprietorship? also where can you direct me to help me through all this footwork because really its a pain and I want to just get started so bad. Also How much does this phase of start up usually cost, what with a lawyer and accountant etc. I need to know how to minimize taxation as well

I became a  LLC through LegalZoom.com. All up it came to about $300 to set my business up and have all the paperwork done through LegalZoom. You might want to check their site out and I think it explains the different types of business setups.
A good accountant is a must, ours charges about $50/hr. and offers good tax advice. She comes in quarterly to sort through our books and gets the necessary tax papers ready to file quarterly.

Rich, I think it`s wonderful how the SUN founders are so willing to help us. You guys even go to the extent of providing connections to other business services… without charging for the information. Thanks.
