Are there any free scripts that would allow SMS text messaging alerts?

For example, a member could select to be alerted to private messages on a forum via text message alert. I`m not looking for SMS text messaging advertising, just alerts. Opt in only.

Can these scripts be easily integrated into open-source CMSs like Drupal or Joomla?

Also, is there any infrastructure on my part that needs to be in place to use such an alert system  like high-tech gizmometry... transmitters/towers/satellites/lasers? If the infrastructure is handled by someone else, how am I charged? Costly? Or is the alert system purely code based?

Just do a search for "free website sms script", I`m sure they are out there .... the scripts may have info included regarding any issues you`ll need to work with, and you can contact your webhost as well about any special needs or restrictions on using them.
