As Roland said also, you probably do need to start over with your site.  I guess there are different ways of saying that.

And if I shouldn`t be on the webiste crituqe forum, I apologize.  I`m just interested in website businesses!   I wish you lots of luck and hope that you find the right proffesionals to work with. I did not mean to create any conflict.

Good luck to this years sales!

Having said that, I`m sorry you got burned. I really am. It never feels good to be taken advantage of, after you place your money, hope and trust in a company. Hopefully, you`ll exercise better judgement in the future.

Well, I have to agree with dale.  His input is usually dead on.  Harsh sometimes, but he is right in that I would take this site offline to get it fixed.

Most of your images have no caption.  I see a white piece of cloth and a price.  Is it a diaper, a blanket or change pad?

The colors aren`t good - especially to someone with red-green color blindness.

And, what *is* the purpose of a calendar in the middle of the page?

I am convinced that these SEO scammers are just that - scammers.  I hope for you that you can get our of your contract with them.  Do you have access to the products without the conract?

Calm down, Janie..  Of course you are welcome here.  I have learned much from reading others` critiques and feel like I can help others somewhat.

I have yet to submit my site for critique because I am not ready to rejoin the workforce (recent surgery), and I am redesigning the whole site and recasting my business plan.  But when I do, I would welcome the informative responses from people like Craig and others, and even the harsh, but to the point critique by Dale..

janie,

this website was built in the hope that people just like you would come here and find value and provide perspective.

dale obviously has his own issues and you should not be deterred from providing your very best peer advice. your spirit of helpfulness, not to mention your online success, are exemplary.

keep on providing your help, janie!

Dale, it would be a great help if you would tell people what steps to take, to thoroughly check out a company before doing business with them.

Janie, I`ve stated before in no uncertain terms that I don`t think you`re qualified to dispense business or marketing advice to anyone. My opinion hasn`t changed.

Now if you want to get into a pissing contest Janie, you`ll have to do it without me, because I`m through talking to you.

Dale, please try harder to conduct yourself in a collegial manner when using StartupNation. It is not in the spirit of our website for you to try to tear down the helpful efforts of other StartupNation members. If you have contrary advice, we encourage you to express it here, making sure that the focus of the advice is in the best interest of helping the entrepreneur who posted the topic in the first place.

Thank you  Rich. I appreciate your support. I didn`t want this thread , or any thread, to be so negative.

I wasn`t in a state that I needed to calm down Steve. I`ve  appreciated your advice before..

I just have great hopes, that the one that started this thread, and others feel comfortable posting here.  Talking to me or anyone else about pissing contests makes the whole, "ask for advice" thing sound ridiculous. There really shouldn`t have been a problem with `ME`,... aren`t we trying to help out the one with the question? Go ahead, give better advice Dale, but don`t belittle others.

Thanks again Rich, you offer a great opportunity for others to learn a lot from each other here!

Hey Rich, I don`t have any issues, and I don`t appreciate you putting that out there. Yes, I`m blunt, harsh and direct. I`m a proponent of tough love, and I make no apologies for that. I also give as much of myself as anyone here. You need to be more consistent with your handling of conflicts. You didn`t stand up for me last year when I had a conflict with a couple of your Sunbassadors. You stood by and did nothing. If you`re going to intervene and stand up for one member, be fair and stand up for all members equally. You can`t pick and choose your favorites. I don`t feel that your inconsistent handling of conflicts is in keeping with the spirit of SuN. You can`t have it both ways. I`m simply asking you to be fair.

On another note if you would like to know if your site can even be optimized (Most Flash Sites Can`t) feel free to ask my partner Marty at http://www.maximumhits.com for a complimentary review.
Our website http://www.citruscountyclassifieds.com is #1 on page 1 of both Google and Yahoo for the search term "Citrus County Classifieds" After only 3 months of operation!

For anyone looking for a true professional in SEO I highly recommend Marty above.

He`s honest and he`s been doing SEO since before Google even existed, he gives you realistic proposals and always gets you on to page one of the search engines IF your website can be optimized. Sorry to hear your website was not the greatest to start out with.

As Dale would say. Thank you for posting up the question just the same. It is appreciated. Dan

ebiznewbie,
I`ll start by saying that I am not a web person.  I don`t know about coding, etc.  As a potential shopper I would say that you need product descriptions to help the buyer decide what to buy.  Your items are priced inexpensively, which is attractive, but on the internet people are going to ask if the quality is there since they can`t actually touch the item before they buy.  Add some information about fabrics, wear and tear, manufacturers, etc and I think it will help with buyer confidence.

If you do decide to change your site I can recommend Might Merchant.  They did my two sites and are easy to work with.

I hope this helps some.
Tracy
