Hello everyone. I am interested in starting a small online book business, selling books through Amazon and eBay. My plan is to use a partner in the United States to do the physical receiving, stocking, and mailing while I handle the management, sales, and growth. However, I am stationed in Germany. Of course I am still a citizen of the Unites States.

Is it legal to start and run a business in the United States while I am stationed here in Germany?

Thanks!

That`s like asking, "Is it legal to run a multinational corporation, where the home office is in the US but the distribution and sales offices are in Germany." I dunno, seems to me a lot of companies are run like that, right? The only issue would be tax declarations and which laws of what country would apply to particular aspects of the business.

Thanks. I`ve ordered a few books to gain a deeper understanding on how the taxes will relate. We`ll see how it goes from there.

Don`t forget to also get together with an accountant who specializes is international trade. Many times they can give you a lot of insights specific to your situation, where a book has to be more generic. Y`know?
