I was playing around on another thread, and it occurred to me that this might be an extension of the "Brand Building: 10 word elevator pitch" topic.
----------
We`ve got lots of strong business minds here in the community, and lots of people who believe that if they only could get some investment capital, then all their problems would be solved!

Why not have a role play?

I just won the $15-million lottery; I`m a business person, and I`m looking for investments. (I`m not, and didn`t, but so what?) If we set this up as if it were real, all sorts of questions come into play, many of which likely would help new entrepreneurs develop a better context.

So: Got an idea? Need some bucks? :-) Let`s talk! (Here...NOT in a private message!)

I have been thinking about starting the first United Internet of Nations. It would be the government of the Internet that provides a setup similar to any Government System, but everything is virtual. There would be Internet laws and if you need a business license. All tax revenues are paid to the online government, and if you get caught breaking the laws of the internet, you are banned with no access (Each online surfer is coded). You would have to get a Virtual Lawyer to attend an online video conference an Online Jury would have to decide your faith. I would invest most of the money setting up the concept, and have all online companies participate in making the online community safer for kids.

Excellent Idea, Raisecapital :-) I have one initial question: how would your Online Police force enforce the compliance?

Absolutely! What`s the investment going to be for? Let me just light up my big cigar, sit back, and roll up my shirtsleeves. Impress me! :-)

Hi Craig,

I`m not a person who can use big business world language.  I do however know what I have to offer and I know my product.  I have a complete passion for my potpies.  Kids and picky-eaters love`em!  My story is here on Startupnation under the MarketPlace, click on food and beverage, scroll down to Reese`s ChickenPotPies.  Joel Osteen himself and some of the crew members have tried my product.  They loved it!  In fact, you will see me soon posted on the site with Mr. Osteen and the radio crew members.  I also have my own professional team ready and willing to meet with you at your convenience of course.  We`d like for you to give our product a good faith review.  Trust me.  This will not be a waste of your time.  My time is valuable as well.  I mean this in a positive and promising way.  Take care, God Bless You and family.  I hope to hear from you soon.

I am glad to see that your a business man, I was wondering how much you are willing to invest in a business. Every one needs to start somewhere right? I decided to start here.

I`ve set aside $5-million to dabble in investments and venture capital.

Roll playing (practice) is ONLY the most important exercise one can do to become a specialist in a given field of business.  I could give examples but I’m too tired tonight.

Think of it like this:  We workout to building muscle and have a healthy and fit body.  As a business person (whatever your avocation) why wouldn’t you work on building your business skills the same?  Things like objection handling, business savvy, style, knowledge etc…  Roll playing “in my opinion” is one of the most “valuable” exercises one can do to grow and learn.  It truly is hard work.

Plato (Greek Philosopher) said that you learn to play the flute by playing the flute.  “Practice” I say that you learn to ride a bike by riding a bike.  “Practice” All the experts (athletic and otherwise) say that you can become the best through relentless practice.  (Roll playing is “practice”)

I am surprised that this thread has not brought more of the entrepreneurial cream to the top.  Maybe this community has become too advanced to work on fundamentals… Or maybe they’re just chicken.

“One must dig deep, look forward and never turn down an opportunity to grow if one is to transcend mediocrity”.  ß [Solu2; June 22, 2007 StartUpNation.com]
