Hi Everyone,

I’ve just updated my website, and would appreciate some feedback to make sure I’m on the right track.

It’s for a self study course for managers and supervisors. The previous version of the site didn’t do very well because I was aiming it at the managers themselves rather than business owners (their bosses).

I’ve remedied that now (hopefully), but as I’m so close to it, it’s hard to be objective.

Comments and constructive criticism from fellow SUN members warmly welcomed.

Many thanks,

Hey Shaun, just visited your site and its looking good. I like how you advertise and I would suggest a little design to make it more convincing to the viewers.

What do you mean?  Could you be a bit more specific.

C`mon, Shaun. Why are you playing games?  That`s not a website, it`s a sales letter. If you want people to read your sales pitch, just come right out and say so. I for one am not interested!

I`m not playing games.  This isn`t a sales pitch, and I`m sorry if I`ve given the impression otherwise.  Check out the "before" links below, and see for yourself.

Old Pitch Page (this will show today`s date because I have a script that updates automatically):

Note: I`ve changed the wording on the guarantee certificate as part of the revamp.  It used to say: "The Knack of Managing and Supervising will make you a better boss or your money back".

Hey there, Shaun

I realize that it`s a genuine request for a review on your webcopy and not a pitch to members, and in doing a comparison from the old version of your site to the new, you`ve made some great improvements! Well done for that.

Personally I`m not a huge fan of the long, drawn-out sales page, although John Reese and others have made an artform out of it, proving that if you get the components right, it works beautifully.

Seems that you are seeking to appeal to a certain customer demographic - aspiring or struggling management, or those who are just looking to stay on top of their game. Seeings as you`ve tested your target market, are there other products in the niche using this same approach? I`m wondering if this package of yours is your first product in this market, or is it the final stage of your multi-step sales funnel?

Guys like Filsame and Edwards and of course Reese tend to lay out the big guns - courses that cost around the 1k mark and up - after stringing their buyers through a series of smaller purchases and proving their value with the process - you know, the $27 ebook on `Why Every Employee Hates Workplace Harmony` (with the limited one-time offer tacked on just before the payment gateway) to the $200 - or sometimes complimentary -  podcast with an industry pro as a random offer/bonus 30 days after initial purchase - to the J.V. launch that offers the 1k course. Is this the culmination of that kind of thing?

If so, your conversion rate will be much greater from the one-page sales pitch approach. If not, you may have some issues converting as you could be seen to be relatively unknown, creating a stumbling-block for potential customers when you ask for 1k at the end of the page. You know, the `takes 9 contacts with your business to get a customer to buy` thing. Just my two cents.

I know from purchasing all manner of courses from the marketers previously mentioned and their esteemed colleagues that whilst you have the correct ingredients in your page, you really need to wow the reader more with the `Act Now` bonuses on the end. I find that they take away from the percieved quality of your hard work, and are not a good punch-line.

Perhaps you could do a sneak affiliate trick with the bonuses - you know, sign up for a few clickbank (or similar) offers as an affiliate, offer them as bonuses, and pay for them at the half-rate price that you get as an affiliate from your profit. If it adds to the `deal` value, it will help you to sell your product.

I appreciate what it must have taken you to put this package together, and encourage you to drive some traffic to your site and split-test your heading, your price, ect. If this is your first offering for the market, I would suggest that you get some smaller product out there that is punchy and an easy seller, to affirm to your target audience that you provide genuine value.

All the best

Dan

I wouldnt purchase anything there. It`s not a website go here www. f reshc.com and see what they say. Here are some points for a successful website.

II. Building A Website

B. Standard Sections to a Website

1.        Home/Intro - Welcome page

2.        About Us - Background

3.        Services - What you do, products, services

4.        FAQs - Frequently asked questions

5.        Contact - Address, phone, e-mail

6.        Testimonials - Customer reviews

I also think if your target market is the corporate upper management, then you site should reflect that. Make a corporate site. To me as soon as I see a site that formatted the way you have your, I immediately think scam. Not to say that’s what you do, but its a thought in my mine. In talking to my customers and clients they say they want something settling to the eye. easy to navigate and very informative. They like buttons because it help them focus on what the came there for. They don’t have to read the entire site only to find what they are looking for in the last paragraph of the page. I`m sure this format works or there wouldn’t be a hell of a lot of them out there. I would as my target market what they want to see.

Well that`s a web site only in a narrow meaning of the subject. It`s a web document. From looking at the home page I only realize that you hate spam with a passion. I scrolled down the "Pitch page" and didn`t read anything as I "hate this kind of pitch pages with passion". I don`t think anyone in the top management would be interested in spending 10 minutes reading it. Maybe some kind of an unemployed guy would.

Anyway, if you want to sell something then make it attractive.

Hmmm. I hadn`t thought of that one!

I think offering something smaller first might be the best way forward.

Thanks for the advice.
