This is not a forward or repost..  I noticed this scam on my debit card yesterday.

Wanted to give a heads up on a credit card scam going on with a company called Reservation Rewards.  Just noticed the transaction today and saw they have been charging my account $10/mo since October.  I called up and the woman quickly reversed the charges.... although it has yet to go back into my account.

The transaction comes up as "Reservation Rewards 800-732-7031"

You get signed up after making a purchase on a normal site (FTD flowers in my case) and as soon as you enter your email for a $10 back coupon - the company then (i.e FTD) automatically transfers your credit card information to Reservaion Rewards (not cool) ... its happened to people with the following mainstream sites..

  • expedia.com
  • SmartBargains
  • BabyUniverse.com
  • Priceline.com
  • various Yahoo!Stores
  • classmates.com
  • ChoiceHotels.com
  • Marketworks
  • Fandango.com
  • Allposters.com

    This outlines the scam: http://www.boston.com/business/articles/2006/09/12/suit_says_online_marketer_ran_scam/

So yeah just wanted to give everyone a heads up...

  • P.S.  This practice is TECHNICALLY legal but not ethical by any means... therefore I emailed John Stossel at 20/20 to try and get him to cover the story :-P ...  It`s bad enough that theres one shady company, but the fact that priceline and expedia are part of it makes it much worse..

I also found a $12 monthly charge.  After investigating I found that it was through a purchase that I made via pbs.org

    PBS!!!!! can you imagine.

I too had ordered flowers from FTD &  had a $31.00 charge from Reservation Rewards. I was able to call & cancel my membership & was told that I wouldn`t be charged, but the money still has a hold on $31.00.

I just found an $11.58 charge on my Visa card that I didn't purchase for Reservation rewards.  I will be contacting my credit card company on monday.  I have no idea how they got my name and card.

Hello.  I am in the same boat.  I was completely unaware of the charges being made on my VISA until recently.  It is extremely upsetting and I feel badly that I made an oversight by not noticing it right away.  I have been in contact with VISA and they said you must put in writing that you do not authorize Reservation Rewards to charge your credit card (mention the last 4 digits) and that you cease all business with them effective immediately.  Demand that they refund your money as charges were made without your knowledge or willing consent.  Demand that they put how much they are refunding to you in writing.  Then, VISA can act on your behalf to make sure they refund the charges made.  Print the letter and save it so you can show it to the bank if you need to.  I do not remember having ANY contact with these people but still they have charged me.  I am so upset!!!  I have booked flights online as well as flowers and so I have no idea where they got my information.  They don't even have access to my full name and on top of it were using an expired credit card.  Visa says this is unethical but not illegal.  It should be illegal!!  Also, I think if companies such as these are problematic, banks and VISA should be more diligent in protecting their clients.
