Hello everyone, I am looking feedback about my web-site.

Thank you very much for your time.

About the Site:

www.idopi.com

We have done some SEO but after reading the posts at SuN I realize we may need to do more in this area – any advice will be helpful.

Going by Vincent’s “Site Review 101 (guidelinesV1)”, I think my site is almost at Level II.

While I developed the content of the site, the site itself was professionally designed by Laz Creative, my brother-in-law’s company.

Targeted Market:
Companies, other than software companies, that hire software developers.

About the Service
I created IdopI Programmer Evaluations Services to give clients the ability to evaluate software developers the same way software companies do - by making applicants prove they can actually write computer programs.

At my last W-2 job I asked potential hires to write a quick application to prove the applicant currently had the skill to do the job they were applying for. I was surprised by how many applicants did not have the skills necessary to perform the job for which they were applying. I realized all of the evaluation tools I could find were multiple-choice based and so did not actually show that someone could apply knowledge. So I decided to create and offer an evaluation tool that does.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review my site. All feedback is appreciated.

David

I like the look, layout, and imagery. One thing, the text on the left crowds up against the border, maybe a bit of space would look better.

The About Us page could use a little more information; a start date and general location doesn`t say a whole lot about who you are.

Maybe some work on the title tag and metas would help for searches.

All in all, I like it. I can get your main idea pretty quick and determine right away what you are there for.

I like the look but no Meta Tags? Ouch not one that I could see in the source code.

The idea is a great one, and I think can bring in a lot of business. The problem I have is that the text is hard to read on my LCD panel. I also have a high resolution setting, with 1280x1024, so the text is seriously small. Additionally, the grayish color has limited contrast, and very hard to read.

I`m wondering at the reasoning behind laying out the logic of the company horizontally rather than vertical? There`s a gigantic moving picture at the top, where what I want to know is "what`s this page about? How come I`m here?"

Right there, almost, you have the "What is IPES?"

The problem is that nobody know what IPES stands for. Instead, and typical of conventions, you could have a heading:
Discover the IdopI Programmer Evaluation Services (IPES)
(content goes here)

However, it makes sense to me to have the next section *below* the first paragraph...not next to it. (Eye scanning pathways, don`t`cha know.)

Instead of bullet points below the first heading, I think you likely could do a summary in plain text with a "learn more...." at the bottom. But the overall topic of IPES v. Competitors doesn`t strike a chord.

From what you`re saying, nobody`s really offering a way for a small company to evaluate software developers. So isn`t "competitors" a bit odd?

I`d like to see the "How does it works" as a main heading, even a tab of its own. After all, that`s the bottom line. Let`s say I`m a company, and I want to develop an application. I wonder, "are there any standards or testing services around?"

I`ll assume your SEO writing has dealt with my finding you. But after that, I want to QUICKLY understand:
  • What`s your certification process---testing methodology
  • Are you accredited, and if not, does it matter
  • How does this work
  • How much will it cost me
  • How do I get the results.
Remember, I`m likely not a programmer, but I want YOU to do the screening for me. So I can`t read the code someone writes to know if it`s good, bad, or elegant. Am I a target customer?
