I`m not sure if this is the right place for this topic but I have a question for those that currently use D&B and Experian to report your clients that either pay you on time, pay you late or don`t pay at all.

I currently offer my clients to pay by invoice and want to start reporting to the "Business Credit Agencies" Anyone have experience with them as for as the cost and time it take to do this (I was thinking of reporting monthly or quarterly). I was checking D&B as I have my business listed there (trade lines and paydex score) but could not find the information. At this point I would like to get information from those that have used the service as they are always trying to sell me something that I may not need.

As a courtesy to my clients. Also I believe it`s important to report on customers that don`t pay their invoices to save other companies some grief.

I see the value of commenting when they DO pay on time. If we *ALL* made it a practice to report when someone paid on time - we could do a LOT for small business, no?

I think that you have it backwards.

If you aren`t a paying customer of their credit check services, they don`t want to hear from you.  You don`t exist.  The customers of the credit check services pay for the access to a creditor database to protect themselves.  (And they post a hefty bond as well).  There`s nothing in it for them to report good paying customers.  In fact, when you look at your own credit report you won`t see any positive entries.  They are either negative or neutral.  (No news is good news).

Actually I`d like to challenge that Videography. It helps small businesses or startups that have no business credit establish trade lines with vendors (vendors like me). For example D&B offer a paydex but only for those that have established trade lines. Althought I don`t like some of the sales tactics that D&B uses they do help small businesses that are starting out.

You personal credit and your business credit are two different things. Business credit reporting agency to post "positive" entries (paydex, trade lines, credit rating). If you don`t have a entries, you don`t get lines of credit, revolving credit and most net30 accounts.

If you want to help your good customers find a way on your site to praise them or refer customers to them.  That`s the biggest help a small business can get.

As I said, unless you are a paying subscriber to one of the credit agencies, including D&B, then you don`t exist.

If you want to help your good-paying clients, then offer to be a reference for them when they apply for credit elsewhere.
