How hard is it to register yourself? What would be the pros and cons, I`ve looked at GoDaddy and it seems that you are locked into their company forever or you loose your url.

Any specific companies you love--why?

Thanks

You can always transfer your name to a different registrar.
I was with GoDaddy, There is a waiting period, but eventually it happens. Your new registrar will help you.  Don`t know about being your own registrar.
My own opinion ... don`t let Godaddy be your host.
