Hi Jray, I took a look. I think it`s an excellent content manager for a Web site that`s maybe leaning toward e-commerce. My site hopefully will expand into a very complex reference and informational site.

I`m not so much in need for a turnkey solution, as I am for applications like some of the above suggestions. There`ll be some up-front difficulty developing the overall thematic templates, but then I want the ease of plugging in my own text. Of all the functions, I believe a) very robust searching, and b) rapid inter-linking are the most important.

Thanks for the pointer, though. I took a look and would propose that you can use this community to promote your product. I can see how it would benefit a number of folks here, who are looking to develop their own sites. :-)

Would it be true to say that the overall design of a site is one thing, and the way content is put onto that design is entirely separate? Can I separate the basic appearance of the site from the content itself?

That`s stylesheets.

Content = HTML templates and the CMS snippets
Design = CSS/stylesheets

I think a lot of these open source CMS products do support full CSS.

I have an article-type site and I use Typepad. Yes, it`s technically a blog, but I`ve made a few changes to make it better so it works as a article database.

I`ve been using Wordpress for years, and with the new version update, it`s much more flexible.  Drupal is great too man, either one of those will get the job done and are extremely powerful.

Yah, it`s looking to me as if Wordpress and Drupal are the places to initially invest the deeper research.
