Hi AcmeData, thanks for your question.  Are you being sarcastic?  As I understand it, the solar panels are configured to use what sun is available even if it is a cloudy day.  The system will NOT generate 100%  on a cloudy day but 60% plus/minus is better than nothing, don`t you think?

Yes I was being sarcastic about the sunshine in Michigan.  Winter especially!  We get an average of something like 10 hours of sunlight in February alone!

Thanks for the information.  I have been interested in solar and wind generation for a long time, and the prices are starting to become almost reasonable.  Your plan sounds like a good way to get in at no cost.

I have to see if my homeowners association allows solar collectors.

Talk about a product who`s time has come!  I live in hell, alias FL and we sure could make some use of this.  Although, this time of year most everyone in the US would like to live here.

Understood!  Some States already have laws, such as California, where Associations CANNOT deny the placement of solar collection panels.  On a Federal level, they`re working on laws that will superseed State laws so homeowners will be able to have solar electricity.

I believe that your insurance would handle the cost of replacement (as with any storm like that) but my company will do the re-installation.  I would have to ask if the re-installation will be at your cost or ours.  I`ll get back to you on that.
