I was wondering if someone could tell me how many individual clients you can set up in QuickBooks Pro? I am in the process of getting a non-profit business off the ground and I purchased Quick Books for Non-Profit, but haven`t installed it yet, as I am upgrading my computers. I`ve been an accountant for many years, so I`m comfortable with the accounting side, but I`m used to using the large ERP systems at various large clients. I recently assisted a client with the set up of an LLC for a small existing business and he wants me to also do the bookkeeping for him as well as annual financial statements, taxes, etc. Another individual had approached me about doing the same thing. Both of them want me to manage the bookkeeping/accounting aspect on my site.

Will I need to purchase QuickBooks Pro for both clients, or can I purchase the software once and use it for both clients financials, or possibly purchase additional licenses or something. How would that work? Also would I be able to run QuickBooks Non-Profit edition and QuickBooks Pro for my clients on the same computer, keeping my businesses financials and theirs separate. Please advise. Hopefully I didn`t confuse anyone. :-)

Thanks

If you are going to be doing the books for these clients on your machine you only need one copy. So you can get going relatively cheaply.  However I would consider stepping up and getting the Premier Accountants edition as it gives you more features. You might also consider getting the payroll module so that you will be able to do payrolls for up to 50 clients.

Hope this helps,

Great, thanks, that`s what I wanted to know, if I could run more than one business on one copy.

Oh one other thing. Since I do have the Premier Non Profit edition would I be able to use that for my non profit and for profit needs, or would I need both the Premier Non Profit and Premier Accountants edition. I`m on Intuit`s website trying to compare the products and it looks like they are all the same in regards to the premier edition except the special editions (accountant, non profit, etc) have special items included for that specific industry.

Yes they are all the same except for one special feature in the accountants edition. It will allow you to toggle to the other editions so that you can see the other reports that the other editions have. Also being the accountants edition it has features for accountants, like an accountants trial balance and if memory serves after the fact payroll.

I would check it out a bit more.

You can get your QuickBooks hosted through an application service provider or ASP. One of the essential features provided by hosting is multiple users’ accessibility.
