Hi everyone,

I am contacting a manufacturer to request pricing, etc... for wholesale product that I want to retail. I have a list of questions I would like answered before I make an investment in this product. I am hoping some of you can help me ensure that I am covering all of the bases here. Any and all feedback is welcome.

My List so far:

  • Brick and Mortar retail front required?
  • Can I purchase directly from manufacturer?
    • Or is distributor required?
    • If so who?
  • Minimum order (qty or dollar ammount)?
  • At what price points/quantity do you offer an escalation in discount?
  • Other incentives for repeat orders and/or sales volume from my business?
  • Marketing "partnership" programs offered?
  • Order fullfillment
    • How qucikly can I expect delivery?
    • Prefered carriers?
    • How are backorders handled?
    • In the event that it is necessary, will you drop ship to my customer?
    • Can I arrange for pickup and tranport of product?

You have covered many concerns very well.

Brick and Mortar retail front required?

Are you considering just a "virtual store"? Or do you truly desire to have a "Bricks & Mortar" operation too? Do you have a minimum of 12 months of operating expenses set aside for your `bricks & mortar" store?

TJG,

I am an online (ebay) presence only. I have no interest in a Brick and Mortar operation. My main concern wiht that question is that some merchandisers require a B&M front before they will do business with you. Even though I do not purchase on, nor ask for, credit.

I sent you a private message. I`m willing to share with you some of the successes we have had in landing manufactures/vendors to become "distribution partners" with GoTruckStop.com.

It sounds like you are heaeded in the same direction. Best of luck.
