This question is for investors (or anyone else who has dealt with this issue):

If someone approaches you with a product idea targeted at a new and growing niche market — one that is so new it doesn`t have a name, let alone any sort of "official" data to cite in a business plan — what kinds of information would you find most convincing regarding that niche`s validity?

I have a fairly significant amount of research done, essentially pulling together data from disparate pieces of a larger niche market that is growing rapidly but hasn`t congealed or made any headlines. I would like to bring a media product to fruition that would identify, congeal, and collect demographic & psychographic information on this particular market niche; but how do I effectively communicate its existence to folks like you when I`d be the first to collate the necessary data?

Any insights or suggestions are most appreciated. Thanks!

even with a niche market that is new you still have to identify your customer. For example what`s the age range for the product, is it gender specific, what`s your ideal customer geography - is it urban, people that live in the city. i would pretend you`re filming a commercial for your product - who`s the person you`re trying to reach. what you have to do is heavy marketing and convince people they need your product or service.

one example - federal express. at the time it was a new niche. not that delivering packages was new - but the concept of delivering letters and packages overnight. his target market was businesses looking to get important letters and packages from one office to another overnight, especially engineering and law firms are two that come to mind.

good luck.

Darwin,

From the article, it sounds like you have a nifty new invention - but I`m not clear about your post to this topic. How does it relate to "RabbitMountain`s" request?

If you are hoping to develop interest in your invention, try posting your "elevator pitch" and you`ll get feedback.
