I am starting my own residential PC repair company. Would you be thrown off or turned away if the website have a more of a coffee theme, then a Computer theme? (Meaning it has some coffee beans and a cup of joe compared to pictures of computers on it?)

I am looking for opinions from beginner computer users, to small biz people`s and above`s opinions.

Thank you

I can understand your want to shift the "theme" from the overused, technical looking computer visuals to something more friendly but something as specific as coffee might give the wrong impression.  I mean it might be confusing.  There is a reason why people use computer images for computer repair and coffee for coffee shops.

On the other hand, you can shift your theme/brand/identity from computers to something broader.  What do computers represent?  They are a staple of the home office or stand for communication, productivity and so forth.  How about visuals of stylish home offices?  Or images that represent communication in the digital world, the building of relationships?  These things strike an emotional chord with people more than say, a photo of a keyboard or even a coffee cup for that matter.

I`ll go along with Steve. I get the idea of what you want, but I think coffee is too casual. It also implies a relaxed break, lack of stress, and socialization.

Consider the various scenarios involving a need for your service. In how many of them does someone go out for a cup of coffee and say, "Gee...my computer`s broken. I can`t access my business. Hmm...maybe I should get ahold of someone to fix it?" :-)

Now think about how beginning computer users perceive computers: Magic!

A good example image would be Mickey Mouse, in the story of the Sorcerer`s Apprentice. The broom (computer) comes to life and does *exactly* what the apprentice tells it to do....just like a computer. Remember the visual of the water filling up, faster and faster, and Mickey having no words to make it stop?

That`s how computer beginners see their machine.

How can you use the emotional concept to generate something similar, with you being The Wizard who can make it all stop?

I think it would work if your name was "Coffee Computing".

As long as there is a smart link between the name of your website and your "unique" way of selling computers, than this association should work fine.
