I have been approached by someone claiming to be a QVC vendor rep.  This person is very excited about my product and wants to take it to QVC for me.  I would like to know if anyone else has taken a product to QVC and what experience they have had.  Any pearls of wisdom?

Do you know anyone who is a QVC vendor rep?  I would love to talk to someone else who could potentially rep me.

I realize that anyone can "rep" a product. I didn`t realize that there were product reps specifically for QVC. QVC is doing a product search right now, why not just submit what you have yourself and see if they are interested. . .

Perhaps just somebody who is trying to be an "agent" or
middleman.  You can do the QVC submission process
yourself.  From what I have read and been told, at a seminar,
about it they are helpful because they need a constant flow
of new products and people with the personality to sell
their own stuff.

QVC has buyers; people they employ to evaluate and decide on the products they air/sell.

A representative, agent, "middleman" is someone you pay to "package", "pitch", "place" your product into buyers and companies ... some are independent, members of associations, and some are distributors and/or media production companies.

QVC makes it easy to pitch direct; obviously, someone who has contacts and a track record with them is going to have an easier go at it than someone just starting out, but this doesn`t mean you have to have a rep to get a response (there are buyers at some companies who are not easy to find and having an industry rep is the way you "have" to go).

If you are considering using a rep, and many people do because they can/will help with a lot of the details and negotiations, you might consider interviewing at least a couple of them as there are a lot of them out there who specialize in DRTV (Direct Response TV; As Seen on TV; Informationals; etc.) and you will learn a lot about all the costs and options available.

Kim Babjak is one who blogs here on SuN and while I`ve never used her, I know her as a good person who understands the concerns of people like us when it comes to dealing with QVC.

Thanks everyone for responding.
I had checked out the QVC website for the submission process and it did seem easy.  I was thinking that becasue they get so many submissions that it might be beneficial to have someone who "knew the ropes" walk my product through the process.

I have had so many people say this is a perfect fit and she was really salivating over the product.  I am very heavily considering submitting it myself and letting it stand on it own legs.

Hey justonce, just stumbled upon a thread "How to get your product on QVC" on the Fortune Small Business site and it gives a great overview and has advise and numbers from the vendor scouts (10,000 applications a year; eek!~) ... also has a link to ShopNBC`s app.

Thanks Tiger for the great article.

I decided to submit directly to QVC.  The process was very simple.  It has only been a couple of weeks so I have not heard anything.  I know this is going to be a long process and  I am staying optomistic but not overly so.

Last night I dreamed that my product got accepted on QVC and I was there in the studio shooting a live segment.  Everything sold out and as I was walking down the hall I saw Hulk Hogan and Venus Williams getting ready to go on a sell their products too.  I was crazy and very surreal.

There's a PR company called Western Creative Inc. that claims they have a direct line and long standing relationship with buyers at QVC and can get results if your product if it's a fit.  I too have been looking at them and other reps.  I've also been creating a dialogue with manufacturers regarding protoyping, creating masters and production costs for my product.

I found a website called launchmyline.com.  I learned a lot and have gained a new found confidence.  I finally came to the conclusion after having that dream, that I'm just going to pitch directly to QVC.  You can go to their website and download the submission guidelines and application.  Print it all out and look it over before filling it out online.

Good Luck.

Hope to see you on QVC some day soon.
