We`ve been toying around with BestSalesReps.com for some time now and finally think we`ve got it right.  We have built a database of over 4000 manufacturer`s reps across 25 trade categories from which we recruit for our client companies.

I finally put together a classified ad site where manufacturers, importers, and distributors can advertise to this group and others to find their ideal sales rep(s).

I know this isn`t new, (in fact we tried it before) but we think we`ve simplified it enough to be useful.

Please try it out.  Anything that looks like a real ad we`ll publish and leave up for a while.  Use coupon code 4646 as it will eliminate any charges for ads you place. (The code is only good for 100 ads and good through the end of the month).

I look forward to seeing what my fellow SuNners come up with.

Best Regards and Thanks!

Hey John, just visited your site and it`s looking good. I like how simple it looks and it`s organized.

I appreciate the kind words but am really looking for everything "wrong" about the site.  That`s why I included the coupon code, it negates the cost and bypasses the actual shopping cart (paypal`s) so someone could put it through its paces.

Hi John :-)
The thing that bothers me is that your tagline says, "The place where sales professionals come to find great opportunities."

Okay, so I`m a sales professional. (I`m not, but I play one in strange sex fantasy games.) :-) Anyway...I`m this sales pro. From what I`ve seen, these days everyone and their friends is crying for sales reps! There seems to me to be a heavy seller`s market, where the sale professional is selling their skills.

Why should they put up an ad? Wouldn`t it make a whole lot more sense for companies in desperate need of sales reps to place the ads?

Hey Craig,

Thanks, I was hoping you`d give the site a once over, as you`ve given some pretty good pointers to some of the other folks here.  This site is exactly that, a place where inventors, manufacturers, distributors and importers can run ads to showcase their sales opportunities.

Just so you understand what is behind this.  Over the years we have assembled a huge database of reps who we intend to fire invitations off to once a vendor places a new line.  We will also be adding reps to the database should they want to receive regular opportunity updates.  I also intend to add a feed to and am working on the coding right now.

Maybe a redo on the tagline would save the long explanation.   Any ideas?

Hi John, here`s a couple "wrong" things from me...
  • first impression of the front page -- it looks like one of those "domain parked here/coming soon" pages, due to the way the categories list is designed.
  • there does not seem to be any way to activate an inactive listing. So for example, a person couldn`t input a bunch of opportunities and then come back later to activate them as their purchase orders trickle in one by one.
  • the coupon code doesn`t work for me, is the feature working in general? If so, then you might have a problem with your site not working on Mac platform
  • Will you have a logo to use in place of the text in the top left? I think that is also contributing to the "domain parked here" look.
that`s all I really saw. Good luck with getting your site up and running, looks like it could be a really useful thing. I`ll be sure not to tell my own sales guy about it ;)

Hey Paula,

Thanks for taking the time to go through things as thoroughly as you did.  I`ve actually started a running "to-do" list with the suggestions that come from the SuN members.  I`m checking the coupon code right now to see where the problem lies.  It might something to do with the way the registration is set up.

Thanks again!

On a side note, I love your blog, nice!
