I was really excited a couple of weeks back as I was contacted and asked to come in and share my story and experiences of how I got my business started and how we got to where we are at today, at an upcoming workshop being hosted for women that will be all about the importance of Women Empowering Themselves and Pursuing their Passions.

Max attendance will be about 125, so, not thousands, just a nice size group. The 8 speakers that are on the agenda all have pretty impressive backgrounds and then there is little me. I`ve been asked to speak at the end to "close" up the show, nothing big, 5-10 minutes or so.

It is drawing nearer and as I think about it, I got to wondering if anyone else ever worries about doing these sort of things? I would think that people that do this all the time, don`t give it a second thought. I don`t really mind it, once I get going, but it always seems like the second the spotlight is on, I get a heavy feeling in my chest and getting the first few sentences out, is sometimes difficult. Once I get past that, look out! I`m very passionate about my story and experiences and no one knows it better than I so I`m ok, once I get on a roll.

So, just curious, do you love or hate public speaking engagements and does anyone else ever get these feelings when it is time to "start speaking"?

I do love preaching what I practice and get to do a wide variety of speaking engagements - to audiences from 30 to 800 people - each year.  I`ve got to admit, after years of public speaking I do still get a bit nervous before each appearance - and the presentations always work out just fine.

Good luck!

I love them. But as much as I love it and others that I know enjoy as well.. still can`t help getting that "feeling".. but it always is fun and energizing and leaves you with a great feeling. remember to be yourself, be prepared and have fun with it!! I am more comforatble speaking to a large group than say, 4 people.. Once you start, you will start loving it and it is great for your business as well. My Partner had such a fear of it and just spoke about this the other day..see his post: http://fitspott.typepad.com/ . He ended up doing great and had a great response from the attendees. I was so proud of him!!

Wow, I got to meet all the ladies that will be speaking at a little get together last night and it was fantastic! I am going to put a couple of posts out here shortly about it. I know there are lots of women on here from Michigan and they might enjoy attending the workshop. . .I will put some info out here, I think it is going to be great, the energy in the room with these very accomplished women entrepreneurs was amazing, I`m surprised the walls and roof didn`t blow off the place.

I am really looking forward to doing this and think it is going to be a ton of fun. I`m glad you guys posted so that I know I`m not the only one!!!
